Hi ESS families,

My name is Laura Vinter and I am the new DSM (Defence School Mentor) at Enoggera State School. I am very excited to be here at your wonderful school and the staff and your children have made me feel very welcome thus far. I have loved getting to know your children over the past week. We have already built some wonderful rapports building connections in class, in the playground and at Defence Kids HQ club. The Defence Kids HQ club will now take place every Monday and Tuesday lunch time at 1:20pm. I bring with me to Enoggera SS, a wealth of experience and love for this role across multiple schools as a Defence School Mentor throughout the week.

As you may already be aware, the role of the Defence School Mentor is to support and assist young people from Defence families to integrate into the school community and to facilitate a supportive educational environment for them. This means providing your child with social and emotional support and any academic challenges that may arise. In addition to this on-site support, directing students to school, defence or external programs, services or opportunities that meet their support needs. 

A little bit about me. I am a mother of two beautiful children. I have a daughter in grade 3 at Oakleigh State School and a son who is almost 2! When I’m not working in my DSM role, I love to get out amongst nature and spending time with my family at the beach, local parks and local cafes. A fun fact about Miss Laura: Miss Laura played the Lead role of Sandy in the Highschool Musical ‘Grease’.
