Sports News
Term 2 is proving to be an interesting time when it comes to sport. Right now, the weather has taken a cold turn. For many students, a jumper is required at the start of the lesson, but is quickly discarded when the activity starts. Any jumpers left behind will be placed in lost property unless it’s clearly named and I can return it.
City District Cross Country.
Last Wednesday 3rd May students from years 3-6 participated in the City District Cross Country. They did incredibly well and pushed themselves very hard against some strong competition.
Unfortunately, this year no runners have progressed to the next level of competition however, we did come second in the C Schools division which is a terrific effort. Well-done to all the runners. You did yourselves and our school proud.
A big thanks to Mrs Fitzpatrick who managed the team at the event.
School PE
We are now well and truly preparing for our athletics carnival. Running, jumping and throwing is our focus.
Parents, can you please ensure your child has their hat for PE. There are a growing number of students without hats for the PE lessons that impacts everyone’s learning.
School Athletics
Carnival dates and locations are:
Junior carnival (grades Prep to 2) races and games Tuesday 20th June MORNING – School Oval
Senior High Jump (grade 3 to 6) Tuesday 20th June Afternoon – School Oval
Senior carnival (grade 3 to 6) Wednesday 21st June ALL DAY – Mt Maria playing fields
Running club
Apologies for the miscommunication, but running club will now only be held on Monday and Friday mornings. The mornings are a great time to do a few laps and help settle into the day ahead. All students from grades 3 to 6 are welcome.
With the upcoming athletics day, our focus will start on the 800m race in running club. This will be a nominated event (unlike the other events on the day), so some preparation will be required.
