Dress Code

As the weather cools down, it is a good time to remind parents that students are required to either wear a school jacket available at the uniform shop (open Tuesday morning from 8am); or a plain jumper in a school blue colour. Students are not permitted to wear hoodies or jumpers with any printing or designs on them. Girls are permitted to wear blue stockings (or black if blue is unavailable). All students can also wear plain school blue tracksuit pants.

This Dress Code was developed collaboratively with the school community and supports the wearing of a school uniform to promote a sense of belonging and school pride. It also promotes a supportive environment fostering mutual respect among individuals at school by minimising visible evidence of economic, class or social difference.

Thank you for your support of our School Dress Code.

Facebook

Our school has a very active Facebook page with daily posts to keep our school community informed of what is happening in our school. Our events are posted throughout the term to allow parents time to be prepared for the term ahead. We encourage all of our parents to follow our page so you can enjoy the wonderful experiences our school has to offer. The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed.

A reminder that Facebook is not the best platform to ask questions that you need immediate or urgent replies to, as we don’t always see questions in the comment sections of a post. This is best done by emailing the teacher/admin or calling the office. Facebook is also not a site for posting complaints or negative comments about staff or school processes. If you have some constructive feedback for the school or an issue that you would like to raise, we would respectfully ask that you make an appointment to speak with the Principal to discuss your concerns. Any inappropriate or derogatory comments will be removed from the platform.

Pillar Practice

Our three school pillars including Safety (Be Safe); Relationships (Be Respectful); and Learning (Be a Responsible Learner). Each fortnight at Assembly, a Pillar Practice is shared with staff and students that becomes our focus behaviour improvement. This fortnight, our Pillar Practice is around safety – focusing on being in the right place at the right time. We are also reminding students of what areas are out of bounds for their safety during the breaks and before/after school.

All class teachers are provided with a poster for their classroom and will explicitly teach our school expectations around the relevant pillar and behaviour. Students are reminded daily about our focus behaviour with the goal of improving this behaviour across the school.

The Student Engagement and Behaviour committee reviews behaviour data across the school at their meetings to discuss future focus areas for identified behaviours of concern. This process is documented in our Student Code of Conduct and is part of our explicit teaching of behaviour in our school. You can support us by being aware of the current Pillar Practice and discussing the expectations with your children at home.

STUDENT COUNCIL

The Subway Meal Deal is being held on Tuesday 20th June. This is the Junior Tabloid Sport Day. Please remember to place your orders on line by Friday 16th June to ensure you receive your subway meal on the following Tuesday.

On Assembly this week, we did a special draw for our Kindness Gotchas. There were so many Kindness Gotchas in the box, and 10 lucky students were drawn out and received a prize for showing kindness to others.

Finally, the Student Council supports the Sustainability Club’s Wrapper Free Wednesday initiative and ask that parents consider how they can reduce waste in lunch boxes on Wednesday.

SLIME RUN

Do you want to slime Mrs Robinson and Mrs Burrows!

Make sure you have signed up to do your fundraising.  The highest fundraiser in the school gets to slime Mrs Robinson; and if we raise $10 000, the highest class will get to slime Mrs Burrows!

So don’t forget to ask your family, friends and relatives to help you raise money for the Slime Run!

Fundraising for our Slime Spectacular School Fun Run is entirely online. Follow the instructions in your child’s sponsorship booklet to create a cybersafe, online profile page at www.australianfundraising.com.au. At the end of our fundraiser students can order up to a total of 5 prizes based on their donations received. They can even mix and match!

For further information, please contact Chappy Twinkee on twinkee.polius@suchaplaincy.org.au or 07 3550 1333

One of our current School Council parent representatives, Lisa McDonald, has recently stepped down from their position.  We are very grateful to Lisa for the valuable contribution she made to the School Council.  This has created a parent representative vacancy on the School Council and the opportunity for any interested parents to submit a nomination form.

The School Council meets once every term on a Monday afternoon from 3:15pm for approximately an hour.  The meeting is both in person and via teams, so you do not have to come to school to attend the meeting.   Nominations will be voted on by the current members at the meeting on Monday 7th August. Nomination forms should be emailed to Tina Burrows (tburr11@eq.edu.au) as the current chair of the School Council by Friday 4th August.

We look forward to receiving any nominations and welcoming a new parent representative to our School Council.
