The Student Council is running another fundraiser at the end of the term to raise money for The Kid’s Cancer Project.  Students are invited to dress up as a Pirate on the last day of term Friday 15th September and bring a gold coin donation. Students must wear their school shoes and school hat to school on this day, when in costume.

The Student Council will also be running another Meal Deal fundraiser. The Meal Deal fundraiser will be held on Tuesday 12th September and will be a Zambrero’s meal including burritos, tacos or nachos + a drink for $9.95.  More details will be provided early next week.

Facebook

Our school has a very active Facebook page with daily posts to keep our school community informed of what is happening in our school.  Our events are posted throughout the term to allow parents time to be prepared for the term ahead.  Click on the more tab and then the events tab in the dropdown menu to go to our events.

The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed.  A reminder that Facebook is not the best platform to ask questions that you need immediate or urgent replies to, as we don’t always see questions in the comment sections of a post.   This is best done by emailing the teacher/admin or calling the office.

Facebook is also not a site for posting complaints or negative comments about staff or school processes.  If you have some constructive feedback for the school or an issue that you would like to raise, we would respectfully ask that you make an appointment to speak with the Principal to discuss your concerns.   Any inappropriate or derogatory comments will be removed from the platform.

Please remember to never make comments on the page referencing a child’s name for privacy reasons.

Pillar Practice

Our three school pillars including Safety (Be Safe); Relationships (Be Respectful); and Learning (Be a Responsible Learner).  Each fortnight at Assembly, a Pillar Practice is shared with staff and students that becomes our focus behaviour improvement.  This fortnight, our Pillar Practice is around our Safety and Relationships Pillar focusing on reducing the number of physical incidents between students at the break time by:
  • Playing Fairly and Safely
  • Not kicking and Hitting
  • Speaking Kindly
  • Showing Respect to other

We have introduced a ‘red card system’ to our behaviour management during break times.  This is inspired by the recent interest in the World Cup.  Students will first be warned about physical behaviours, and if the behaviour continues, they will be ‘red carded’ and sent to the Reflection Room for a time out for the remainder of this break.  They will be counselled around strategies they could use to manage their physical outbursts.  A reflection sheet will not be completed; however, parents will be informed via email about attending to Time Out.  We are hoping that by being removed from the situation in which they have become physical and speaking immediately about other strategies, that this may help to teach our students some self-management strategies and reduce the number of physical incidents occurring both in general play and soccer games.

Best Line Up and Best Eating Area

Congratulations to our winners of the Best Line Up and Best Eating Area for the past fortnight.  Mrs Robinson and Ms Burrows were out and about monitoring over the last two week.  There has been a huge improvement in the eating area behaviour with a special mention to the improvement in the Year 3/4 Eating Area.  Line up has also improved with a special mention to Year 4 for their improvement.  The winning class and year level will be rewarded with additional 10 minutes playtime on a Friday afternoon of their choice supervised by Ms Burrows and Mrs Robinson.  Keep up the great work everyone!

Uniform Reminder

dress_code.jpg

A reminder that students are required to wear ALL black shoes to school as part our Dress Code.  Socks should be white only.  As the year moves towards our last term, it is important that we maintain our dress code at all times.   For our older students who are interested in applying for leadership positions, adherence to the dress code is taken into account in their application. As the weather warms up, please ensure that your children are bringing their water bottles and hats to school every day!
