BEFORE SCHOOL REMINDERS
A friendly reminder to parents, that students are not permitted on school grounds prior to 8:15am in the morning unless they are attending OHSC. There are an increasing number of students arriving prior to 8am to meet up with friends. There are no staff on supervision duty until 8:15am, so for safety we request that students avoid arriving prior to this time. Thanks for your support with this.
Morning Play
Due to some ongoing issues with student play before school from 8:30am, the Behaviour Committee decided to reset the behaviour by stopping play before school for one week while re-teaching the expectations. Since that week, we have slowly introduced one year level to play per day, to play before school monitoring their actions. This will increase over the first weeks of Term 4 resulting in either Junior year levels (Prep – Y2); Year 3/4 or Year 5/6 being permitted to play on different days before school.
It has become evident that as we grow, we cannot allow all students from Prep to Year 6 to play before school every day. Teachers have reported that since stopping, resetting and now restricting the amount of students playing before school, that behaviour is a lot more settled in the morning session in classrooms. In many schools, before school play is not an option so we are lucky that we are still able to offer some mornings of play.
You will notice that Term Four events will start to be posted on our Facebook Page over the school holidays. Our school has a very active Facebook page with daily posts to keep our school community informed of what is happening in our school. Our events are posted throughout the term to allow parents time to be prepared for the term ahead. Click on the ‘more’ tab and then the events tab in the dropdown menu to go to our events.
The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed. A reminder that Facebook is not the best platform to ask questions that you need immediate or urgent replies to, as we don’t always see questions in the comment sections of a post. This is best done by emailing the teacher/admin or calling the office. Facebook is also not a site for posting complaints or negative comments about staff or school processes. If you have some constructive feedback for the school or an issue that you would like to raise, we would respectfully ask that you make an appointment to speak with the Principal to discuss your concerns. Any inappropriate or derogatory comments will be removed from the platform.
The Student Council is running another fundraiser at the end of the term to raise money for The Kid’s Cancer Project. Students are invited to dress up as a Pirate on the last day of term Friday 15th September and bring a gold coin donation. Students must wear their school shoes and school hat to school on this day, when in costume.
The Meal Deal fundraiser was held on Tuesday 12th September with 174 orders received from our school community. Thanks everyone for your support.
