Class News - Year 2
This term students in Year 2 investigated Earth’s most important resource, water. Students learned that approximately 97% of Earth’s water is salt water. That leaves only about 3% that is freshwater for meeting the needs of people, plants and animals. Only about a third of our freshwater is available for us to use. The rest is frozen solid in glaciers, in the snow on high mountaintops and in the polar ice caps. Students used their science knowledge of conservation to propose and explained actions that can be taken to conserve water.
Students proposed that we could save water at home by:
- Having short showers
- Turning tap off while we brush our teeth
- Report leaking taps to mum and dad
- Use dishwashers and washing machines only on full loads
