Pillar Practice
Our three school pillars including Safety (Be Safe); Relationships (Be Respectful); and Learning (Be a Responsible Learner). Each fortnight at Assembly, a Pillar Practice is shared with staff and students that becomes our focus behaviour improvement. For the remainder of the year, our focus will be on “Finishing Strong”.
We would like to welcome our new Parent Representatives to the School Council, Mr Sam Peart and Mr Tom Schafer. We are very grateful to Mrs Lisa McDonald and Mrs Amanda Kershaw for their time as members of the School Council over the last 2 years. Mrs Sue Griffin, non-teaching representative, has also concluded her time on the School Council and non-teaching staff will be invited to nominate to join the school council next year.
Assembly
As our school has grown in size, so too has the length of our assembly! With assembly sometimes lasting an hour, this is a very long time to expect students to sit and listen especially at the end of the day! So, we have decided to reduce the length of assembly to approximately 30 minutes.
To do this, we are removing some items and condensing others. Assembly will still be an opportunity to present our Student of the Week Certificates, Award Gotcha Prizes, introduce the Learning Curve and Pillar Practice focus, have performances and for our student leaders to give reports.
Parents are invited to join us in the EPAC after 2:15pm. We will begin assembly at approximately 2:20pm which allows time at the end of assembly for senior leaders to pack up the chairs and for students to return to class to get their bags. Thanks for your understanding around shortening assembly time for the benefit of our students.
Our school has a very active Facebook page with daily posts to keep our school community informed of what is happening in our school. Our events are posted throughout the term to allow parents time to be prepared for the term ahead. Click on the more tab and then the events tab in the dropdown menu to go to our events.
The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed. A reminder that Facebook is not the best platform to ask questions that you need immediate or urgent replies to, as we don’t always see questions in the comment sections of a post. This is best done by emailing the teacher/admin or calling the office. Facebook is also not a site for posting complaints or negative comments about staff or school processes.
If you have some constructive feedback for the school or an issue that you would like to raise, we would respectfully ask that you make an appointment to speak with the Principal to discuss your concerns. Any inappropriate or derogatory comments will be removed from the platform.
Please remember to never make comments on the page referencing a child’s name for privacy reasons.
Student Council News
Pizza Day
The student council will be organising a Pizza Party for the class celebration day on Thursday 7th December. Students will need to bring $5 cash in a named envelope to their class teacher by Friday 1st December so that we can place the bulk order for the following week.
Students should also bring their lunch box with additional fruit and snacks for during the day. Pizzas will be delivered to classrooms at approximately 12pm during class party time in middle session.
Uniform Reminder
A reminder that students are required to continue to wear full school uniform for the remainder of the term including class celebration day. This includes black shoes and white socks as part our Dress Code. There has been a noticeable increase in the number of non-black shoes and colourful socks being worn to school. We ask parents to support our school dress code by ensuring their children have the correct shoes and socks at all times.
Roll Up Afternoon
On Wednesday 6th December from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, students will be invited to visit their classroom for 2024. During the afternoon, they will get to meet their new class teacher and their new classmates. If they have a new teacher for 2024, one of our support staff or departing teachers will fill in for the new teacher. The incoming teacher will be invited to send a short video or PowerPoint or video to introduce themselves and students will complete some activities to get to know their new teacher and classmates.
Free Swim
During Week 10, classes will enjoy a 1-hour free swim session with their teacher and Mr Woodrick to celebrate the conclusion of swimming lessons and the end of the school year. Your child’s class teacher will communicate which day your child will need to bring their swimming gear to school.
