Digi Tech News
Welcome to 2024 school year. I am very excited to be back as the Digital Technologies teacher again this year. I have a lot of news to share with families…
Typing Practice
https://www.typingclub.com/ is a great site to use at home. You can sign up for free or Premium which is advertisement free. NOTE that your home email must be used for sign-up, not the student’s school email account.
Coding Club
All students in Coding Club are participating in two competitions this Term:
- BEBRAS computational thinking challenge in March. All students Years 3 - 6 are more than welcome to participate to enhance their “21st Century Critical Thinking skills”.
- Newbies’ Blockly Challenge (EQ student login required). Students in Years 5 - 6 can really improve their coding skills in this fun competition.
Encourage your child/ren, Years 2 - 6 to attend Coding Club on Wednesdays at Second Break in the Computer Lab, or email Mr Harris.
Cyber Safety
Following on from the “Safe on Social” visit last year, my tip for this newsletter is to have a central charging area in the house for all devices. This will keep devices out of bedrooms at night and lead to better sleep patterns. See the picture and link below.
Visit QLearn to view the students’ digital technologies virtual classrooms. There are special QLearn pages with suggestions on how adults can help at home: Yrs 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, (student/s must use their logins and passwords to access these pages for you).
