Track and Field Carnivals

Our School Track and Field Carnivals are scheduled for Week 9 of Term 2.

Junior Carnival – Prep to year 2 students will participate, this will be held during the first two sessions of school on Thursday 13th June. Events like running, jumping and throwing will all be completed on the day. All activities will be held on the school oval on Thursday 13th June from 9am to 12noon.

Senior Carnival – Year 3 – 6 students will participate, this will be the whole day on Friday 14th June. Students will be walking with staff from Enoggera to Mt Maria on the day of this event. Permissions for this will be going home shortly. There will be one activity (High Jump) that will occur back at school prior to the carnival due to logistics and equipment. A full program will be distributed before the carnival. Students will need to participate in their age groups (year of birth), which is sometimes different from there class groups.

PE lessons

We are practicing all the athletics events in our lessons. It has been great to see so many working very hard on the activities.

Earlier in the term we were successful in Sporting Schools funding to run a tennis program for the grade 5 and 6 students. We have engaged Scott from Slice Tennis to run the sessions which has been a huge success so far. If you would like to get in contact with Scott, scott@slicetennis.com.au is a great place to start.

Scott and I will also look at running a school tennis tournament in term 3. Look out for some more details in the future.

Finally, a lack of hats is becoming a big issue for us here at ESS. All students require a hat to play outside, it is an essential element of our Sun Safety policy. In most classes, there are 3 and 4 students without them. This then takes time out of our lesson and impacts on us getting through all the PE content. I would really appreciate a big concentrated effort in all classes having there ESS hats everyday!
