Pillar Practice
Each fortnight at Assembly, a Pillar Practice is shared with staff and students that becomes our focus behaviour improvement. This fortnight, our Pillar Practice is around our Relationships Pillar focusing on the power of our words.
- Using kind words and not swear words
- Your words can change someone’s entire day
- Use your words to speak friendly and speak firmly when following the ESS High Five

You may have noticed that the Term 4 Events were posted on Facebook over the holidays. Please click on ‘More’ and then ‘Events’ to see a list of all of our events for the term.
Student Leaders 2024

Next week, Mrs Robinson and I will launch the Student Leadership Process for the 2025 leadership positions. Students will be provided with an information package if they are interested in applying for a position including School Captain, House Captain, Arts Captain or Student Council Chairperson (Vice Captain). The students will be required to write a letter of application and complete a criteria card to submit. Applicants are encouraged, but not expected to attend leadership workshops with Mrs Robinson and I from Week 3 – Week 6 on Thursday at second break.
Day for Daniel
Once again, Enoggera State School will be supporting Day for Daniel on Friday 25thOctober. Students willbe permitted to wear a red shirt and/or socks to school on this day in support of Day for Daniel and the Student Council will collect gold coin donations from students to donate to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. There will be a “Dance for Daniel Disco” on the AstroTurf in front of the Prep A veranda and our Chappy Twinkee will get everyone dancing from at second break. Please no face or hair colour for this event.
Uniform Reminder
A reminder that students are required to wear ALL black shoes to school as part our Dress Code. Socks should be white only. As we begin our last term of the year, it is important that we maintain our dress code at all times. For our older students who are interested in applying for leadership positions, adherence to the dress code is taken into account in their application. As the weather warms up, please ensure that your children are bringing their water bottles and hats to school every day!
Student Council News
Last term, the Student Council held a Subway Meal Deal which raised $250 towards their legacy item. They also organised a fundraiser for the National Endangered Species Day and raised $190 towards this cause. The Student Council also launched their first ever ESS Spell-a-thon as a major fundraiser. Thanks so much to all the students and their families for sponsoring students for the Spell-a-thon. All tests have now been conducted and students will bring home their tallied sponsorship forms to collect moneys. All sponsorship forms and money are due back to the office by Friday 25th October. Please note, the sponsorship forms must be returned even if you did not have any sponsors on it. Once the spell-a-thon is completed, teachers will be selecting a class representative for the year level spelling bees which will be held in class by Mrs Robinson and Mrs Burrows. This will then give us our 7 finalists from each year level to compete in the ESS Spell-a-thon before assembly on Monday 18th November! Good luck to all competitors!
The Student Council has already had their first meeting for the term, bringing lots of interesting ideas to the meeting on behalf of their classes. This term, our Wellbeing Initiative will focus on ‘Hope’ with an activity being organised for Week 5. There will also be a free dress day – the theme is going to be decided by the leaving Year 6 cohort and this will be held at the end of Week 6 on Friday 8th November. The Student Council also supports Day for Daniel with a gold coin fundraiser and our ‘Dance for Daniel’ dance party on the AstroTurf with Chappy Twinkee on Friday October 25th at 1:20pm. Finally, the Student Council will be organising for students to purchase pizza for class parties on Thursday 5th December. It is going to be a busy term ahead for the Student Council.
