Principal News

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

LEARNING CURVE WELLBEING PROGRAM

The Learning Curve focus this week is from the ‘Engagement and Mindfulness’ category, the wellbeing skill builder is ‘Ways to Cope’. This topic is about students learning coping strategies to calm themselves when they are starting to feel tense, anxious or frustrated.

Students are working on this topic during their Health lessons and following up with their class teachers as well as using their ESS Learning Curve diaries. The parent article regarding this topic is attached for your information.

2025 CLASS PREFERENCE FORMS

Please find attached below the class preference form for students for 2025. There is a space on the form to indicate if your students will be returning to ESS for 2025 and if so, this is an opportunity to reflect on this year and indicate a preference of the style of class and teacher that would suit your student/s better. On the form there is also a place to indicate student/s you would prefer your child/ren to be placed with or not for next year. These forms will need to be returned to the administration office (not class teachers) by the end of week 4 (25th October 2024), to be considered in the class placement process. We will then commence this process with teachers in week 5. Please be reminded that this is not an opportunity to choose a teacher as at this stage staffing and teacher placements for next year have not been finalised. Whilst we take on board the feedback, of course there is no guarantee that all requests can be actioned, as ultimately, we have to make the best placements conducive to teaching and learning for all students.

PREP 2025 ENROLMENTS AND TRANSITION MORNINGS

Mrs Burrows and myself have been very busy last week finalising the Prep enrolment meetings for next year. If you know of families who live in our catchment and are planning to come here next year, please remind them to get their enrolments in asap as we are now planning for the next phase of the process which is the Prep Transition mornings, which will be held on November 1 and Nov 15 for all enrolled 2025 Prep students. Email reminders around the transition processes will be sent out to all enrolled families in the coming weeks.

2024 YEAR BOOK

A reminder that again this year we are producing a Year Book of the 2024 school year at Enoggera State School. This book is a great memory book of the year and is available to purchase by our families. It includes class pages and pages on all of our school events and activities throughout the year. It also includes a special focus on our graduates. The book is gifted to our graduating students at the graduation ceremony and will also be available for collection for families who order and pay for one prior. Order forms will be emailed out this week so if you wish to purchase the year book please complete the order form attached and return to the office with payment Friday, November 29, so that you do not miss out. As we only have 60 available this year the first 60 families that order will receive their copy before the holidays. A further order can be placed after that for delivery at the start of school next year.

GRADUATION

A reminder that our Graduation Ceremony for our Yr 6 student will be held on Thursday 5th December at 9:00am in EPAC and this will be followed by the Guard of Honour later in the day and then the Graduation Social Event in EPAC that night.  Information will go out shortly to the Yr 6 families with information about the event.  The cost of tickets for a 3-course catered buffet dinner will be $45 per head. There will be a DJ to entertain the students after the dinner. There will be a limit on 3 tickets per student to the dinner (graduate and 2 parents) only.

We would like to set up a committee of parents who would be interested in assisting with some roles as the event gets closer. These would be tasks such as setting up, cleaning up, decorating the EPAC and setting up a photo booth. We invite parents interested in being part of this committee to meet with us on Friday, October 18 at 2:30pm in the school library.

 MORNING ROUTINES

A reminder regarding the morning routines at Enoggera State School. Students are supervised by school staff under D Block from 8:15am. Only students waiting with parents should be under C Block. If students are arriving at school prior to 8:15am they should be booked into OSHC.

WEEK 11

A reminder that we are still working on a plan for week 11 of this term, however as was in the last newsletter, this week 11 of school is being termed a ‘soft week’ and there will be no formal activities or formal teaching occurring. All official school events will be finalised by the usual end of week 10 of the term and week 11 will be supervision and alternative activities for those students’ requiring supervision.  Therefore, if families are wishing to go on holidays early, they can go at the end of week 10 as usual, without missing anything important at school. Hopefully, with less students attending in week 11 we will be able to collapse classes so that our teachers get some planning and preparation time for the new school year before heading into the holidays.

Till next time,

Mrs Anne Robinson
