Interschool Gala Sport

Our Year 5 & 6 Students participated in the City District Interschool Sport (Gala Sport) for the last few weeks. Due to the fields being rained out in week 2, there is still one more week of games remaining - This Friday the 25th of October is the last session. Teams participated in Girls Touch, Boys Touch and T20 Cricket.

Thanks to Ms Lancaster, Ms Kerwick, Ms Dowling and Ms Dunstan who supported the students during these activities – this included umpiring or refereeing games. Thanks also to Mrs Talbot and Mrs Fitzpatrick for getting the first aid kits ready for us.

A special shout out to Mr and Mrs Howard who were able to help set up the fields at the last minute. Your help was greatly appreciated.

A reminder that everyone needs to be bringing their hats, water bottles, lunch and sunscreen. It is important that students bring their lunch to ensure they are fuelling their bodies well. Canteen purchases only supplement their lunches, not replace them.

Year 3 & 4 Sport

Our Year 3 & 4 students participated in their first week of our sports skills program. All students spent our middle session and afternoon session out on the oval and/or the multipurpose court rotating through four separate sports. This will happen while our year 5 & 6 classes are out at Gala sports.

Our focus for the program are the sports that we participate in annually, namely, Volleyball, Touch and T20 Cricket. The fourth sport is a multi-sport – activities like 10 pin bowling and bocce. Thanks to Mrs Arthur, Mrs Harris, Mrs Moeser and Mr Taylour for supporting our program along with Teacher Aides, Mrs Butwell and Mrs O’Donnell.

Swimming

Swimming is continuing in term 4 – thank you to everyone who has been bringing their equipment as needed each week. Another thanks to parents who have been notifying us if their child is unable to participate in swimming.

We are still looking for help from parents in all of our Prep to year 2 classes, with some classes in more urgent need of help. Thank you so much to those who have already volunteered and are coming along as we can’t do it without you.

If you are able to help either for one lesson or even once a week please email aawoo0@eq.edu.au

Adult support in these age groups makes a huge difference to our programs.

A reminder that personal equipment (swim cap, rashie, towel) is required to participate in the swimming program. There are limited numbers of “spare” equipment that is ok to use sometimes, but its important to get in the habit of having everything ready.

Named items of clothing are also essential. There were many lost items last week that could be solved easily if everything was named – yes EVERYTHING!
