What a treat it has been for the year 4 teachers to get to know our new cohort of learners! We have already started to dive deep into the curriculum looking at language features including noun groups, verb groups and prepositional phrases in English. The students have been so absorbed by the humour and excitement in our novel study of “The Twits” and we look forward to some amazing chapters being produced. But watch out! There are pranks afoot! Make sure you are not the unexpected victim!

In Mathematics we have been spending time looking at our number understanding and our strategies for rounding and estimation. Next we move onto financial mathematics and will be planning a pizza party as part of our assessment, what fun! This is a great time to remind our kids of the need to practice your times tables to ensure a smooth transition into the more challenging operations in year 4.

We have been digging up the dirt on rock cycles and soil types in Science and the hands-on investigations are certainly proving to be very popular.
