Dance Performance Team
Congratulations to our fabulous Dance Performance Team on a fantastic day at Sunshine Coast Dance Eisteddfod. On Wednesday 14 May students travelled to the Events Centre Caloundra for their very first Eisteddfod competition. Our students were kind, respectful and showed fantastic sportsmanship- not only when supporting each other, but also in cheering on other schools. I want to commend them for their dedication in the lead-up to the event, as well as their incredible effort throughout the day. They were truly outstanding.
Our first performance was all about showing up, doing our absolute best, performing in a new environment, and most importantly—having fun. And what a day it was! We placed 3rd out of 12 schools in the Grade 6 and Under Jazz/Hip Hop section with our Respect (Jazz) routine, and received a Very Highly Commended in the Grade 6 and Under Any Style category with our Ashes (Contemporary) routine.
We also received some wonderful feedback from the adjudicator. She loved our costume and music choices, commented on the fantastic energy and commitment to the dancing, and said how much she enjoyed watching the team on stage.
Congratulations again to our Dance Team. Mrs Rees and I are so proud of you and we cannot wait until the next competition in Week 7 at Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge (BPAC).
Please make sure students have all of their items packed and ready. Please refer to the Performance Pack (Version 5) for all of the items the students need for the day and the times for drop off and pick up. Students have their final rehearsal before BPAC on Thursday 29th of May. Please make sure students arrive on time and ready.
We can't wait to take the stage again soon!
VPT & DPT Consent Forms & Invoices
Consent and Invoices have been sent home. Please ensure you make note of the due dates and action these asap. We appreciate your understanding with this.
Vocal Performance Team
We also want to congratulate our Vocal Performance Team who earned a Gold Award at Choral Fanfare last Monday. They have been working hard and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of performing amongst other schools in the Metropolitain North area. The team will now focus on preparing for Singfest in August, where they will join with other schools to sing a range of repertoire, with experienced conductors, in a mass choir.
Winter Soiree - Save the Date!
The winter soiree will be held on Thursday 12th June (Week 8). The groups that will be performing are Junior and Senior Strings, Band, Junior and Senior Choir and Vocal Performance Team. No Dance Groups or Recorder Band will be performing at the Winter Soiree.
An email with all of the information regarding the event will be sent out via email so please keep a look out for this. We look forward to seeing you there.
If you have any questions regarding the Winter Soiree please contact your teacher. Mrs Kirk (Strings), Mrs Rees (Vocal & Band) and Miss Dunstan (Dance).
Dance Ensembles
Please ensure that all students attend their scheduled dance rehearsals. We’ve had several students missing their sessions recently, and it’s important everyone is present to keep up with new choreography and group coordination.
If your student is unable to attend a rehearsal, please notify Miss Dunstan via email in advance.
Rehearsal Schedule:
- Red Dance: Monday at 8:00 AM
- Boys Crew (Grades 3–6): Monday, first break after eating (Open to all)
- Green Dance: Wednesday, second break after eating
- Purple Dance (Grades 1–2): Friday, first break after eating (Open to all)
If you have any questions or need further information, feel free to email Miss Dunstan.
Choir
Students are now preparing for the winter soiree so attendance leading up to the Winter Soiree is very important. Mrs Rees has said that many students are missing their rehearsals, so please remind your student of their rehearsal times. Below are the rehearsal times for Junior and Senior Choir.
- Junior Choir - Thursday first break after eating in the Music Room
- Senior Choir - Friday 8am in EPAC
If you have any questions please email Mrs Rees.
Recorder Club
Unfortunately, due to significant absences and disruptions this term our recorder band will not be performing at the Winter Soiree. We will continue to work on the repertoire to be fully prepared for Arts on Stage in Term 4. If you have any questions, please email Mrs Rees.
