Back to School

I am so pleased to be back at work after a month off to recover from my recent surgery. Thank you to all the members of the community who have welcomed me back and asked how I am feeling. I am excited to be back for the last three weeks of the term and to see the lovely, smiling faces of all the students!

Dress Code and Lost Property

There are still numerous students attending school not wearing the correct school shoes and socks. Students are not permitted to wear coloured shoes to school – the dress code specifies black shoes and white socks. The laces on black school shoes should also be black please. Thank you for your support of our School Dress Code.

If your children have misplaced items of clothing, the lost property is located under A Block near the uniform shop. Please remember to label all your child’s clothing to make it easier to locate it when it is lost.

Pillar Practice

This fortnight, our Pillar Practice is focussed on being in the right place at the right time.

  1. Classroom – right place for learning, not wandering around or leaving the classroom without permission
  2. Lunchtime – sitting on benches in eating area, waiting to be dismissed, play in correct areas
  3. Transitions – Line up when the bell goes, using the toilet during break times.

All class teachers are provided with a poster for their classroom and will explicitly teach our school expectations around the relevant pillar and behaviour.  Students are reminded daily about our focus behaviour with the goal of improving this behaviour across the school.

The Student Engagement and Behaviour committee reviews behaviour data across the school at their meetings to discuss future focus areas for identified behaviours of concern. This process is documented in our Student Code of Conduct and is part of our explicit teaching of behaviour in our school. You can support us by being aware of the current Pillar Practice and discussing the expectations with your children at home.

The next Student Council meeting will be held next week on Friday 12th of September to discuss plans for the Student Council events in Term 4.

Thank you for your support of the Student Council.

Front Garden

Just a friendly reminder to parents to please monitor your children after school in the front garden and under buildings.   Students are not permitted to run on the concrete, ride scooters/bikes in the school grounds or kick balls around the buildings.  Also, please ensure that students are not running through the front gardens or walking along the garden wall as some of the bricks are becoming unstable.

Mobile Phones

If your child brings a mobile phone to school, they are required to hand their phone into the office as soon as they arrive on site. Students are not permitted to be on their phones before school, or store them in their school bags or tidy trays.

This expectation is clearly documented in our ESS Student Code of Conduct available on the website. Thank you for reminding your children to follow this expectation as per the “Away for the Day” EQ policy.

Feed Your Favourite Fella

On Tuesday this week, our school community enjoyed breakfast at our annual Feed Your Favourite Fella event on the front lawn of the school. It was wonderful to see so many of our students bring along their favourite fella to enjoy the sunshine and a sausage sizzle before school. Thanks to the P&C for hosting this special event and to Mr Tim Mander MP Everton for cooking and serving the sausages.   All money raised goes towards supporting our Student Wellbeing Officer.

Year 4 MADD Day

On Monday 8th September, Everton Park State High School will again host its annual Music, Art, Drama and Dance (MADD) Day, which is a chance for primary and secondary staff and Year 4 students to collaborate artistically. The activities will commence at 9am with specialist workshops in Visual Art, Dance, Drama and Music.  Students will harness their creative energies, while developing communication and interpersonal skills in a group environment. These workshops will run until 12pm and then students will break for lunch. After lunch, along with a high school student performance, students will showcase their creations with their peers. The day will end at 2pm with students walking back to school.  We know they will all have a great time with their teachers!

Over Weeks 9 and 10, Mrs Burrows and Mrs Robinson will be visiting each year level to run mini spelling bee competitions to find the champion speller for each grade. These 7 students will then compete in the ultimate Spelling Bee Competition in the EPAC in front of the whole school on Thursday 18th September at 9am!  Who will be the Ultimate Spelling Champion of Enoggera State School for 2025???

Year 6 Graduation

The Year 6 Graduation Ceremony will be held in the EPAC on Thursday 11th December at 9am in the EPAC. All students from Years 3-6 will attend this ceremony.  Siblings of Year 6 in Prep to Year 2, can be signed out by parents through the office to attend if you would like. Invitations will be sent home early next term.

The Graduation Dinner will be at a venue to be confirmed. The date is also yet to be confirmed but will be in Week 10 of the term (15th – 19th September). This confirmed date and venue will be communicated with parents as soon as we have details.

We are looking forward to celebrating the Year 6 Graduation with you all.

Students Arriving Late

A reminder that any students arriving late must sign in via the office and be given a late slip to give to their teacher. Please note that parents are not permitted to walk their children to class if it is after the 8:45am bell. Older students can walk themselves to the classrom and younger students can be escorted by staff from the office. Teachers are unable to communicate with parents when dropping off late students as they are busy teaching. Thank you for following this school process to minimise disruption to learning.
