Dear Parent and Caregivers,

LEARNING CURVE

This week the Learning Curve focus is from the ‘Health and Strengths’ category and the wellbeing skill builder is called ‘Kindness Spreads’ for P-2 and ‘Self Kindness’ for Yr 3-6. This week’s P-2 lesson highlights the importance of spreading kindness by being kind to both yourself and others. For Years 3-6, the focus is on recognising that the most important relationship you have is with yourself. It emphasises the need to be gentle and kind to yourself first, especially when you make mistakes or find something challenging.

These concepts were introduced in the Health lessons with Miss Dunstan this week and will be followed up in classrooms. Our Yr 3-6 students continue to track their progress in their Learning Curve diaries.  The parent newsletter is attached below.

STAFFING

Mrs Donagh McKenzie (Success Teacher for 5/6) will be taking leave for all of Term 4. She will be backfilled by Miss Eliza Kelly. Mrs Jacque Egerton has also moved into a Success Teacher role for Term 4 and is being replaced on Prep A by Miss Sarah Dionysius. Miss Maddy Cartwright will continue on behind Mrs Andrea Moeser on 3A for the first two weeks of next term until Mrs Moeser returns from leave.

I will also be taking leave for all of Term 4. In my absence, Mrs Tina Burrows has been approved by the Regional Director to be Acting Principal for the term. Tina will be backfilled by Meg Parkinson who is the substantive Head of Department-Curriculum from Everton Park SS. Meg has completed a number of Deputy Principal relieving appointments and comes highly recommended by her School Supervisor.

PREP ENROLMENTS

Just a friendly reminder, if you know any families living in our catchment area who plan to enrol here next year, please encourage them to submit their enrolment paperwork as soon as possible. Prep Enrolment Interviews have already started and will continue until October 10th. Bookings for these interviews are now open through SOBS. Families can schedule their Prep enrolment interview using the following link:

https://eq.sobs.com.au/pt3/parent.php?schoolid=70109

The information below demonstrates how to book an interview spot.

Unfortunately, any out-of-catchment enrolments can only be considered after these interviews and in-catchment enrolment numbers are confirmed.

LATE ARRIVAL AND EARLY DEPARTURE ROUTINE

Please remember that if your child arrives late to school, they must go to the administration office to be signed in. They will receive a late slip to give to their teacher as confirmation they have been marked on the roll. We kindly ask parents not to take their child directly to the classroom or pick them up from there, as this can disrupt teaching and learning.

For Prep and Year 1 students who arrive late and sign in at the office, staff will supervise them as they enter their classrooms via the back of the office. Students in Years 2 to 6 are expected to make their way to class independently.

The same procedures apply for early departures. If you need to collect your child before the end of the day, please come to the office to sign them out. The office will then call your child to meet you there.

To minimize disruptions and keep students safe, we ask all parents to follow these routines, which help maximize teaching time and ensure everyone’s safety.

READER’S CUP TEAM OFF TO STATE FINALS

It was wonderful to attend the State Reader’s Cup finals with our Brisbane North Champions at Moreton Bay College in week 8. They worked so well as a team and worked so hard on the new books, resulting in a credible performance on the day where they finished in 7th place, only 5 points behind the winners. Congratulations to Ella B, Zoe W, Vishnu G, Brea G and Lara G. You worked hard and did your school and your Region proud.

GRADUATION

Due to increased numbers, we have arranged a new venue for this year’s Year 6 Graduation dinner. The event will be held at the Arana Leagues Club, a popular choice in previous years.

The formal Graduation ceremony will take place at school on the morning of December 11, followed by a morning tea with family. Later that day, we will hold the traditional guard of honour at the front of the school at 3 pm, with the Graduation dinner to follow that evening.

Further details about costs, ticket bookings, and invitations will be sent out early next term.

SCHOOL WATCH

A reminder to keep an eye out on our school over the holidays. If you see anything suspicious please call the school watch number 13 17 88 to place a report. If we all work together, we can keep our school safe over the holidays. Camp Australia will be onsite over the break and our cleaners and grounds staff will be working during the first and second week during the days, but at other times the site should be empty.

HOLIDAYS

This Friday we commence the Spring vacation and we will return to school on Tuesday October 7th after the Kings Birthday long weekend. We wish all of our Enoggera families and staff a very happy holiday and hope that if you are travelling on our state’s roads you take care and enjoy some happy family time together. We look forward to seeing our lovely students and staff back refreshed and ready for the final term which is action packed with events and activities to round off the year.

Till next time,

Mrs Anne Robinson
