Deputy Principal News
Deputy Principal
Thank-you so very much for such a warm welcome to your beautiful School. I have been amazed by the responsible, polite and friendly students and staff that I've had the pleasure of meeting at Enoggera State School so far. I feel very lucky to have Mrs Burrows here to share how everything works for the 10 weeks that I get to be here.
As you may know, I have been at Everton Park State School for over 10 years where I have worked as a class teacher, Master Teacher, Pedagogy Coach and Acting Deputy Principal, I am looking forward to the many events that at Enoggera State School occur during this term. I look forward to meeting you during the Term.
Pillar Practice
Each fortnight at Assembly, a Pillar Practice is shared with staff and students that becomes our focus behaviour for improvement. This fortnight, our Pillar Practice is related to our Learning Pillar, focusing on ‘Being Ready for Learning’ by:
- Focussing on the task
- Ignoring distractions
- Having a go
- Asking for help
- Listening to the teacher
To do this, (even when you don’t really feel like it!) we are reminding students to use their strategies to help them stay in the Green Zone. Feel free to ask your child which strategies they are using to feel focussed, calm, proud and positive about their learning tasks.
You may have noticed that the Term 4 Events are being posted on Facebook. Please click on ‘More’ and then ‘Events’ to see a list of our events for the term.
Student Leaders 2025
Next week, Mrs Burrows and I will launch the Student Leadership Process for our 2026 leadership positions. Students will be provided with an information package if they are interested in applying for a position including School Captain, House Captain, Arts Captain or Student Council Chairperson (Vice Captain). The students will be required to write a letter of application and complete a criteria card to submit. Applicants are encouraged but not expected to attend leadership workshops with Mrs Burrows and me from Week 3 – Week 6 on Thursday at second break.
Enoggera’s Got Talent
As you know, this Term we will be hosting our second annual Enoggera’s Got Talent. Students will be able to nominate, as a group or individually, to perform a talent such as singing, dancing, a magic trick, playing an instrument etc. There will be heats held during lunch times from week 8 and finalists will be announced for the Finals show in Week 10.
STUDENT COUNCIL
The Student Council has already had their first meeting for the term, bringing lots of interesting ideas to the meeting on behalf of their classes.
The Student Council are busy choosing what they will be spending their money on as their legacy item. They have some fabulous ideas!
This term there will be a celebratory bowling excursion for our student councillors as an acknowledgment the dedication they have demonstrated as student representatives this year. This will be held at the end of Week 6 on Friday 14November.
Finally, the Student Council will be organising for students to purchase pizza for class parties on Thursday 11December - it's $5 per student (CASH ONLY in a clearly marked envelope with student name and class). As always it is going to be a busy term ahead for the Student Council as they work towards supporting our students and fundraising for their legacy project.
