Interschool Sport
Our year 5 & 6 Students participated in the first Friday of Interschool Sport (Gala Sport) last week with two more Fridays to go. Teams participated in Girls Touch, Boys Touch and T20 Cricket. From all accounts, everyone did a great job on what was a very hot day.
Thanks to all the supporting teachers who assisted the students during these activities – including umpiring or refereeing games.
Reminder that all students attending Gala days need to be bringing their school hats, full water bottles, lunch and sunscreen. It is important that they bring suitable lunch items to ensure they are fuelling their bodies throughout the activities.
Year 3 & 4 Sport
Our year 3 & 4 students participated in their first week of our sports skills program. All year 3 & 4 students spent the middle and afternoon session out on the oval and multipurpose court rotating through five separate sports. This will happen while our year 5 & 6 classes are out at Gala sports.
Our focus for the program are the sports that we participate in annually, namely, Volleyball, Touch and T20 Cricket. The fourth and fifth sport, is about playing individual and team games. Again, a massive thanks for the supporting teachers.
During week 1 – students focused on skills for each sport, week 2 will work on additional skills and start introducing modified game play and in week 3 it is planned that they focus more on modified game play.
Tennis
The 2025 ESS Tennis champion is….. Matias C!!!!
Back to back champion. Well done Matias and well done to the runner up, Kieran C.
I hope everyone who participated enjoyed the competition. With over 60 students nominating, its great to see tennis so strong here at ESS.
A big thanks also to Scott from Slice Tennis for providing the draw for us and of course the trophies.
Well done everyone.
Swimming
Swimming has started for this term – thanks to everyone who has been bringing their equipment as needed each week. Another thanks to parents who have been notifying us if their child is unable to participate in swimming.
We are still looking for help from parents in all of our Prep to year 2 space with some classes in more urgent need of help. Thanks so much to those who have already volunteered and are coming along, we can’t do it without you. Any helpers for Prep B would be amazing.
If you are able to help either for one lesson or maybe each week please email aawoo0@eq.edu.au
Adult support in these age groups makes a huge difference to our programs.
A reminder that personal equipment (swim cap, rashie, towel) is required to participate in the swimming program. There are limited numbers of “spare” equipment that is ok to use sometimes, but its important to get in the habit of having everything ready.
Named items of clothing are also essential. There were many lost items last week that could be solved easily if everything was named – yes EVERYTHING!
