Principal's Pen

This week, much to the delight of our teachers, we welcomed back our Preps and Year 1's. After a teary start for some, the students had a great day, settling quickly to work and routines. We are awaiting an announcement, hopefully about a return to full school attendance from 25th May, and will get further information to you as soon as possible.

Can I say a heartfelt thank you on behalf of all the staff for the ‘Cup of Kindness’ campaign, which resulted in a beautiful and valued gift of many coffees for staff. We were incredibly humbled by the generosity shown by the school community. We have also been touched by the many messages of support and lovely treats sent in by our families over the past weeks. We are so lucky to be part of such a beautiful community.

It is tricky when we value our strong community involvement, to limit movement throughout the school, particularly at drop off and pick up times, but we need to keep people outside the school gate wherever possible for the time being. While our processes have worked smoothly over the past few days, here are some refinements for the coming weeks.

  • Currently Prep and Year 1 students are supervised at the gates in the afternoons, to ensure the development of good routines. After the next two weeks, we will continue to provide afternoon supervision at the EPAC gate and Stop Drop Go, until the end of term. Please ensure that your children know where you will be picking them up. We would suggest the same place every day.
  • If you are picking up from Stop Drop Go, feel free to arrive any time until 3.15. Avoiding the 3pm rush means you can drive straight in rather than queuing.
  • At Stop Drop Go, staff will direct your children to your car in a safe way. Do not leave your car and please do not call your children out any other gates to your car.
  • If your child is riding to school, they are responsible for storing their bike in the cage in the morning and collecting it in the afternoon. Alternatively, parents can take bikes home and return them in the afternoon.

Thank you again for the understanding you have shown as we develop processes to respond to  a rapidly changing situation.

We have seen some great examples of Learning at Home, thanks to the parents who have sent photos and information to our email keepingessconnected@enoggerass.eq.edu.au Congratulations to the winners of online our Art Competition Edmond, Hazel and Jasmine who produced some great art work as part of an extra at-home challenge.

Now that the weather has started to cool, please have students wear the Enoggera State School jacket or jumper which can be ordered through the QKR! app or alternatively purchase a plain Royal blue jacket or jumper.
