NAIDOC WEEK
This week Enoggera State School has been celebrating NAIDOC Week. The 2020 theme Always Was, Always Will Be - recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. We started our celebrations this week by watching a beautiful video created by some very talented Indigenous students at assembly. Students have had the opportunity to create a beautiful hand painting using colours traditionally used in indigenous artworks. These hands will be incorporated into a mural which will hang around the grounds. A huge thank you to Chappy Sarah for all her work in bringing NAIDOC Week to life at Enoggera State School for 2020!
Remembrance Day
Today Enoggera paused to commemorate Remembrance Day – the 11th day of the 11th Month at 11:00am. Rememberance Day 2020 marks the 102nd anniversary of the Armistice which brought World War I to an end after four brutal years on November 11, 1918 in which more than 60 000 service men gave their lives. We honour the fallen and thank those who continue to serve in our armed services today. A huge thank you to our students who showed impeccable manners throughout this event. Thanks must also go to Mrs Kellin for her help in organising the ODE.
