Interschool Robotics Competition – Term 4

This term Everton Park State High School welcomed students from Enoggera State School to participate in an Interschool Primary Robotics competition using EPSHS Lego EV3 Robots and the 2020 First Lego League Robot Game Board. The students, from Years 4-6, have given up their Thursday afternoons to learn to build, code and test their Lego EV3 Robots through a series of challenges. The EPSHS after-school robotics program culminated in Week 8 in a team event where students coded their robots to complete a series of challenges in 2.5minutes, scoring points for each successful mission achieved. The team with the greatest score at the end of the 2.5 minute rounds wins the Robot Game.

The Robot Game requires an understanding of how to code (program) robots to drive, turn, lift and push, as well as critical and creative strategy to ensure the students solve as many challenges as possible with the maximum amount of points within the time frame.

I’d like to congratulate the following students for their commitment to the program: Dominic N, Jasmine S, Olliver K, Connor P, Aron H, Oliver D, Logan G, Liam H, Yoshi D, Lachlan C, Zoe Z, Lucca V, Heidi F, Oliver S, Subrat R, Ellia S, Charli M, William P, Henry D, Rachael C, Elizabeth H, Noah M and Ava N.

An extra special mention goes to Jasmine, Ellia, Rachael and Zoe for winning the Robot Game Competition with their robot.

Also a big thank-you to parents for getting students to and from EPSHS, as well as Mrs Melissa Wilcox from Enoggera SS and Mrs Carolyn Hall from Everton Park SHS for their support of the after-school robotics project.
