Year 1 Excursion to Ferny Grove Tram Museum.
The visit to the museum was to support the students learning in HASS and their understanding of how things have changed. The red tram is 100 years old.
Things the children have learned that is the same include: the trams used a key to start them but now the key is a button. Also, the arm that connects the trams to electricity needed to be repositioned each time the tram changed from forwards to backwards. Now the electric trains don’t need that to happen.
They also learned that the old trams didn’t have walls or windows and it was easy to fall out if you weren’t being careful.
The children also saw a trolley bus and learned that horses use to pull the bus through the city but now the buses use petrol or gas.
Lastly, the teachers and students would like to give a big “Thank you” to the parents who gave up their day to join us on our excursion. Without you, our excursion would not have been possible. You were amazing.
