The wet weather has returned but this has not put a dampener on the wonderful learning happening in our school.  Students are well underway with their learning this term and will soon begin on their various assessment pieces in preparation for end of semester report cards.   As I walk through the classrooms, I continue to be impressed by the teaching and learning occurring in all year levels.   A highlight for me is to see our Preppies starting to read and how proud they are of their achievements!

In other news, Our Year 3 and Year 5 students are participating in NAPLAN this week and are engaging with the on-line platform for the various tests with a high level of effort.   Good luck to all the students! Today I have the great honour of taking our two School Captains, Louis and Lara; and the Vice-Captain Heidi to a Leaders’ Luncheon at Parliament House.  I know this will be a great experience for us all and I will share photos on Facebook.   My favourite part of the week though continues to be my Just Dance Club in the EPAC where I enjoy time with lots of students from all grades who come along to dance as part of our Clubs and Activities program.  This continues to provide our students with many different options of things to do during breaks while our grounds are a construction zone!

Pillar Practice

At Assembly this week, the students were introduced to our current Pillar Practice.  Students are focussing on the Pillar of Safety and are working on ensuring they are transitioning around our school grounds safely.  This includes remember to use our “Walking Feet”!  You can support our Pillar Practice by discussing these expectations with your children at home.  Our goal is to see an improvement around safe transitions in our school especially given the access limitations due to the construction site.

The key reminders are:

  • Walk on concrete and pathways
  • Walk around bench seats
  • Walk down stairs one at a time
  • Walk around drains on the pathways

Facebook

Our school Facebook page is a handy way to keep up to date with upcoming events!  We encourage all of our parents to follow our page so you can enjoy the wonderful experiences our school has to offer.  The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed.  Messages and questions on our Facebook page can be overlooked, so this is not the quickest and most reliable way of getting clarification around school events.  It is always best to ring the office or email the class teacher.  Thanks for your support of our Facebook page and for interacting on the page with respect and support.

Uniform Policy

With the cooler weather coming, it is a good time to remind our school community about our Dress Code expectations. As always, please ensure that your child’s clothing is clearly named especially hats and jumpers as students take these off during the day.  Student dress codes provide clothing that aims to contribute to a safe and supportive teaching and learning environment through:

  •  ready identification of students and non-students at school
  • fostering a sense of belonging
  • developing mutual respect among students by minimising visible evidence of economic or social differences.

Enoggera State School has developed our School Dress Code in consultation with the school community, including staff, students and the P&C Association. We firmly believe that the school uniform contributes greatly to the tone of the school, encourages students to take pride in the school and their appearance, and it ensures identification outside the school confines.
