It is hard to believe that we are almost at the halfway point of the year!  It has been wonderful to watch our students right across the school learn and grow during this time.  I had the pleasure of spending an afternoon session with Prep A yesterday while the Teachers and Teacher Aides participated in some professional development.   It was rewarding to see how confident the preppies are now ‘doing school’, after meeting many of them at enrolment interviews almost 9 months earlier!  We worked on decorating their tote bags for Under 8s Day on Friday and they are all very excited to participate in the activities planned by their teachers!

This week is a very busy week with the Principal’s Awards Assembly on Monday, Senior Sports day on Wednesday, Junior Sports Day on Thursday and Under 8s Morning on Friday.  Students and Teachers will all be looking forward to a very well-deserved holiday after this big week of events and term full of teaching and learning!

I wish all our families in our school community a safe and relaxing winter holiday.  I look forward to seeing you all back for Term Three.

Student Council Update

The Student Council met last week to reflect on Term Two and to plan for Term Three.  The students were very happy with the success of their ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ Day and next term, they are planning to run a ‘Gratitude Wall’ in which students will write what they are grateful for on coloured post-it notes and place them on the wall at the top of the administration block stairs.  Research shows that being grateful is very beneficial to overall wellbeing, and our Student Council are keen to ensure the emotional wellbeing of our students.

The Student Council are also going to launch some fundraising next term.  They have decided to fundraise for Childhood Cancer Support through Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19th.  The day is all about dressing up and having fun while making a difference to the lives of childhood cancer families.

To raise money for their Legacy Project, the Student Council are going to run a Subway Food Day (on a non-tuckshop day) and a Picture Products fundraiser.  The money raised from these initiatives will go towards purchasing either Buddy Benches or Water Coolers for the school as their legacy.  We will provide more information on these fundraisers next term.  I know that our community will be keen to support our Student Council.

Facebook

Our school Facebook page is a handy way to keep up to date with upcoming events!  We encourage all of our parents to follow our page so you can enjoy the wonderful experiences our school has to offer.  The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed.  Messages and questions on our Facebook page can be overlooked, so this is not the quickest and most reliable way of getting clarification around school events.  It is always best to ring the office or email the class teacher.  We are continuing to add events to the calendar, so be sure to check the events tab to see what is coming up in the last two weeks of the term. Thanks for your support of our Facebook page and for interacting on the page with respect and support.
