Deputy Principal Pen

Term 3 is progressing quickly and we are already on the downhill slide to holidays!  Students are busy completing assessment tasks acting on teacher feedback to improve their work.  It is always very enjoyable to visit classrooms and hear the rich discussions and observe quality teaching and learning happening.  This week I was visiting a Year 1 classroom and the students were using iPads to record interviews with their peers as practice for their assessment task.  I was impressed with their skills using the iPads and their confidence in responding to the interview questions.   I also spent time with Year 5/6 in a drama lesson with Mrs Wilcox and was thoroughly entertained by the students demonstrating roles and relationships between characters in a melodrama through voice and movement.  We have some talented future stars!

The new playground is finally open and students from Year 3-6 are now able to enjoy the equipment that has been behind the fences for what seems like an eternity!  We anticipate that the playground will be extremely popular, so we have rostered various Year Levels to access the playground at different breaks across the week to manage the numbers and safety.Dept_1.PNG

Pillar Practice

This fortnight for our Pillar Practice, we are focussing on ‘Being Safe and Respectful’ (Red and Green Pillars) by solving problems with our Enoggera High 5 and conflict resolution skills. Students are continually taught to keep their hands and feet to themselves when they are frustrated, and by teaching the High Five and other strategies, we are providing students will tools to solve problems appropriately. It is important for parents to be aware of the School Pillars we are practising so that you can encourage your children to reflect on the school expectations and reinforce them through discussions at home.

Facebook

Our school Facebook page is a handy way to keep up to date with upcoming events! We encourage all of our parents to follow our page so you can enjoy the wonderful experiences our school has to offer.  The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed. Messages and questions on our Facebook page can be overlooked, so this is not the quickest and most reliable way of getting clarification around school events. It is always best to ring the office or email the class teacher. We continue to add events to the calendar, so be sure to check the events tab to see what is coming up in the term ahead. Thanks for your support of our Facebook page and for interacting on the page with respect and support.

The Student Council would like to thank the school community for supporting their PictureProducts fundraiser. The drawings and order forms have been collated by Miss McCarthy in the office and have been posted away for printing! The next initiative for the Student Council is to participate in Dress Like a Pirate Day to be held on the last day of the school term (Friday 16th September). Students are asked to bring along a gold coin donation which will be donated to the Childhood Cancer Research.

Morning Routines

A friendly reminder that all students are to be waiting under D Block before school unless they are with a parent. Students in the care of their own parent are permitted to wait under E Block. For duty of care, all other areas are out of bounds as they are not supervised before school. When students are waiting with parents, it is important that are expected to remain seated and to not run around playing, to keep our ‘before school expectations’ consistent for all students. Thanks for your assistance with our morning routines.
