Deputy Principal Pen

What a great term it has been at Enoggera State School! After now being a member of the school community for a full year, I feel like I am truly settled in and can go into my second year with excitement and greater knowledge of the school!  I continue to feel very lucky that I am the Deputy Principal of such a wonderful school with such a warm and welcoming community.

This term, the highlight for me was definitely having the opportunity to watch our Wakakirri students perform twice at the Logan Entertainment Centre.  I am so impressed by the talents of our students.   Another favourite part of my term has been starting the Prep 2023 enrolment interviews.  I thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to welcome new families to our school community and to speak with the pre-preppies about coming to ‘big school.’  They certainly bring smiles to my face with some of their personalities and comments!  Next term, I am looking forward to attending camp with the Year 5/6 students and teachers.

I wish all students and families a happy and safe school holidays.  I look forward to seeing everyone back for a big Term Four!dept_principal_1.jpg

Pillar Practice

This fortnight for our Pillar Practice, we are focussing on ‘Being Safe’.  In particular, teachers are focussing on safety during break times.  With the opening of the new playground, there have been discussions and reminders on using the equipment safely and being patient while taking turns to avoid overcrowding and possible accidents.  As always, we remind students about the importance of walking on the concrete.  Please take the time to remind your children of our safety expectations, as receiving these messages from both school and home is effective in students remembering to be safe!

There has been a lot of recent activity on our Facebook Page as we start posting our events for Term Four.  These can be located in the events tab down the side of our newsfeed. By posting our events now, it gives parents lots of time to prepare for the term ahead!    The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed.  Messages and questions on our Facebook page can be overlooked, so this is not the quickest and most reliable way of getting clarification around school events.  It is always best to ring the office or email the class teacher.

A reminder that the last day of the term is our Student Council fundraiser, ‘Dress Like a Pirate Day’.  Students are asked to bring along a gold coin donation which will be donated to the Childhood Cancer Research.   Our Student Council is meeting with Mrs Robinson and myself this week to discuss initiatives for Term 4.  Thanks for your ongoing support of our wonderful student leaders and the Student Council.

Morning Routines

A friendly reminder that under C Block (Year 2A and Prep B) is out of bounds before school for children and adults.  All students are to be waiting under D Block before school unless they are with a parent.  Students in the care of their own parent are required to wait under E Block.  For duty of care, all other areas are out of bounds as they are not supervised before school.   When students are waiting with parents, it is important that are expected to remain seated and to not run around playing, to keep our ‘before school expectations’ consistent for all students.  Thanks for your assistance with our morning routines.

A reminder that students who will require medication to be administered whilst away, the Medication Administration form is to be returned to the office by Wednesday 5th October, 2022 (Week 1, Term 4).  All prescription medications (including labelled over the counter medications) need to be handed to the school office by Monday 10th October Week 2, Term 4.  They must be clearly labelled in a zip lock bag, with the child’s name, the name of the medication, the doctor’s name who prescribed the medication and the dosage in the original pharmaceutical packaging.

In the lead up to camp, we will continue to meet with students to discuss expectations and prepare for camp.  We will be leaving school at 9:30am on Monday 10th October.  We are looking forward to this wonderful opportunity!
