Class News - Year 1
This week, the Grade 1 students viited Pine Rivers Heritage Village. The first activity the students participated in was learning about the sort of games children played in the 1950. Hoola hoops and colours - a colours was selected and the student had to jump onto the nominated colour.
The second activity was going to school in the 1950's. The children wrote their names on slate boards with a slate pencil which would not work on paper. That confused the children no end. The children also learned how class worksheets were created. The gel mix absorbed carbon paper and could then be transferred back onto blank paper.
The bus trip to the village was filled with energy. The students were very excited and loved identifying key features that would direct them to their homes. Some children even said, "My Mum shops in there".
A fun filled week for Grade 1- a big thank you to the parent helpers!
Until next time,
Mrs Kent and Mrs Boone.
