I am thrilled to have been given the opportunity to work as Principal here at Enoggera State School. Over the last two weeks I have really enjoyed getting to work alongside staff and meet the wonderful Enoggera children. I have received many a warm welcome – it is a great feeling to be greeted by children throughout the school day.
We held our first assembly on Monday and it was lovely to see the whole school come together to celebrate the achievements of our students of the week. It was also really lovely to have the parents of these children attend to join in the congratulations.
What a beautiful facility EPAC is. I was invited to watch the 4-6 Arts Enrichment program on Friday and was blown away by the amazing performing arts space! It is a facility that is really unique to this school. I was also really impressed with the number of children involved in the Arts Enrichment program – which is no surprise given the arts culture that is embedded within this school. The passion of both students and teachers was evident. It was a real highlight of my week.
Since the start of Term, I have spent time in both the playground and classrooms, working to build relationships with students and staff. It is evident from my visits that there is a real sense of school pride and both staff and children have a real love of the place. This is really a special thing to see and be a part of. I am thoroughly looking forward to my 6 weeks here at Enoggera.
Today Eunice Webb our Assistant Regional Director visited Enoggera State School. She was incredibly impressed with the 'vibe' of the school and how settled and calm the school was. One of our students found Mrs Webb trying to locate the office and kindly introduced himself and escorted her to the Administration Building. She said that it was a real credit to the school to have students conduct themselves the way this young man did.

Welcome back to Term 4. I can’t believe how quick this year has gone by.
This term is going to be very busy, as we try to catch up due to the COVID restrictions.
We started the week with School Photo Day on Monday. After having to rearrange a few classes in EPAC (thank you to my Arts teachers for being so understanding) we managed to get all the photos taken before the School Assembly at 2.30. A big “Thank You” to MSP Photography for being so accommodating.
Tuesday saw the 2021 Prep Interviews get underway. If you know of any families in the area, whose child is due to start Prep next year, please get them to contact the school for an Enrolment Package.
Today was Chappy Sarah’s “Multi Colour Pillar Day”. All of the students looked great in their Green (Relationships), Red (Safety) and Blue (Learning) free dress.
Tomorrow (Thursday 15 October) the Prep Vision Screening will be taking place. This service is conducted by Qld Health each year free of service.
Next week we have Book Week Dress Up day on Monday. The theme this year is “Curious Creatures, Wild Minds”. The class parade will begin at 9am. Unfortunately, parents/carers are not able to attend this year, but don’t worry, we will be uploading photos on our Facebook page.
The Year 6 cohort finally get to go on Camp from Wednesday 21 October to Friday 23 October. After having to postpone the camp in Term 2, I’m sure the Year 6 students and teachers are looking forward to this camp. Just a reminder that the camp must be paid in full by Monday 19 October for your child to attend.
The Year 2 students are off to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary on Thursday 22 October as part of their English Unit this Term. Payment for this excursion is due by Thursday 15 October (tomorrow). If payment is not received on time, it may mean that your child may miss out on attending the excursion.
Over the past several months, you may have noticed our Swimming Pool has been having a long awaited makeover. With an upgrade to the change rooms, canteen facilities and the grandstand, as well as the pool being painted, it really looks fantastic. Swimming for students will begin next week.

The 2021 Book Lists were emailed out today. Orders can be place by either ordering online or by visiting Bedrock Books at Brendale. We have also attached copies of each year level here for your convenience.
The upcoming State Election is on Saturday 31st October, 2020, polling is available here at Enoggera State School in EPAC.
And lastly, we would like to welcome Adam Sheppard to the Enoggera State School community. Adam will be filling in as our Schools Facilities Officer while Colin is off on leave.

Year 4
Over Term 4 we will maintain our strong learning focus on Reading and Spelling programs which are proving to be fantastic. The students continue to be involved three times a week in each area, together with their classroom teacher teaching the explicit strategies required to be a literate student. We are focussing on advertising as our unit work over the term.
We are continuing our Geography unit which looks at recycling and reusing to sustain our environment and mapping. In digital technology we use computers which gets us thinking digitally. We hope to enjoy science where we will design games using force, and investigate power through push and pull. We have some great pinball machines coming into school and thank parents and carers profusely for their assistance.

4A welcomes a prac student to their room, Ms White, who is in her final year of a Masters Degree. We already love her contributions and look forward to working with her.
Swimming training for the swimming carnival will take place and will hopefully be a welcome relief on a hot day. Swimming will begin in Week 3. We have begun practise for Arts on Stage in our drama lessons and love showcasing our talent.
As we draw near to the end of the year we will be working hard to retain our focus whilst looking forward to the celebrations of Christmas. Report cards will be distributed in the last weeks of Term 4. Education Queensland has confirmed that Thursday the 10th and Friday the 11th of December will be pupil free days this year.
