Arts on Stage was a very successful production to showcase the hard work of Melissa Wilcox, Marial Hopper and Yvonne Moore, who have developed a number of extra curricula groups over the year. A video of the event, produced by two of our wonderful parents, Nicole McCuaig and Paul Voge, has been shared via a link sent to parents earlier today.
Chappy Sarah’s NAIDOC week student activity, now on display in the office is ‘hands down’ the best piece of art-work I’ve seen for a long time! Thanks Chappy – the students had lots of fun with the activity and the finished piece looks amazing.
We are still working out numbers and classes for 2020. If you know anyone who has yet to apply for enrolment in any year level or if you will be leaving Enoggera State School for any reason, please contact the school office as soon as possible to let us know. Report cards will be emailed on Wednesday 09 December.
We still have some very busy weeks coming up as we head into the end of the school year. Our Principal’s Awards parade will be held during week 10, where students from each class who have shown excellence in the three School Pillars of Learning, Relationships and Safety will be presented with certificates. Unfortunately, parents will be unable to attend this event, however, Chappy has offered to take photos of award winners to email to parents. The successful applicants for 2021 School Leader positions will also be announced at this assembly. As parents are unfortunately still not able to attend school events due to COVID rules, keep an eye on our Facebook page for photos.
Some time ago, plans for the Multi-Purpose Court cover were sent out for community consultation. Since that time, there has been some communication with Department of Education around planning for student growth, and how to best ensure facilities are in place to cater for increasing enrolments over future years. To ensure the functionality of classroom spaces being close together and easily accessible, it is possible that the Multipurpose court may be moved at a later date. After speaking with the Project Manager working on facilities planning at Enoggera, and meeting with the P&C Executive, the decision has been made to proceed with a simple design, engineered to be easily moved if this is required, at which time the cover can be aesthetically upgraded. Of course any changes will be fully funded by the Department of Education. Proceeding with these plans now will ensure students will benefit from the shade the cover will provide while other plans are being developed. The Project Management team is now moving ahead with preparation of the documentation to enable a tender to be developed and advertised for early next year.
As you all know, I recently returned from LSL, and I want to acknowledge the work that Eliza Borsht has done in my absence. Eliza not only kept the school running smoothly but also developed and enhanced school programs and policies.
While I was away, I really enjoyed the chance to travel and spend more time with family and friends. So, while I have loved my time at ESS, which really is a special ‘big, little’ school, I have decided that I am retiring at the end of this year. This decision has been made easier by the school being able to retain Eliza on staff into the New Year, which along with the support of our existing leadership team and staff, will allow for a seamless transition for the school.
Some highlights of my time at Enoggera have included the development of a strategic four year plan to ensure continued focus on quality teaching and learning programs. Work on facilities upgrades has also been a key focus for me and has included the addition of classroom spaces, the development of a Department planning program to ensure adequate facilities for future student growth, the refurbishment of the pool and change rooms and the successful acquisition of a grant for the cover over the multi-purpose area. Mostly however the highlight has been the opportunity to work with such wonderful staff, parents and students. I would like to sincerely thank the community for the support shown to me over my time at Enoggera.

Prep A Term 4 2020
In Prep A this term we have been reading imaginative stories, writing letters to interesting characters and learning all about how things move.

We have conducted experiments using ramps and objects that roll and slide and have even made our own glittery spinners!
We have been watching closely the way animals move, including snails and after the last rain storm we had some slimy friends to observe up close!
We have also learnt about maps and places that are special to us and to others. We have been really creative constructing 3D models of our classroom!

In art, we have been exploring various textures and colours in paintings, sculptures and the natural world.

We are looking forward to an excursion that will take place in Week 9 Friday 4th December to Nudgee Beach.
We are excited about the rest of this eventful term with our Preps soon to be Year 1’s. Thank you for a great year Prep students and parents.

Arts on Stage
Congratulations to all students who participated in Arts on Stage 2020. It was fantastic that the whole school could come down to EPAC and watch in the absence of families. We hope you enjoy the show via Vimeo link and password. Thank you again to Nicole and Paul for filming and editing the show, quite often with some low stage lighting; much appreciated. Also, a huge thanks to our Arts Captains, Lucy and Chloe for hosting the show.
To our Year 6 Wakakirri families, you will be missed. Thank you for your support and involvement over the years, which has seen our little school celebrate some national titles!
In particular, two families have been involved since our first Waka year back in 2013. The Calluthers family - thank you for your enthusiasm and help over the years and the Howie family – thank you for years of costumes, prop making and the Howie ute! We are very grateful for your efforts and tremendous support.
Best wishes to all departing students and families. Keep pursuing the Arts and thank you for the memories.

Thank you to the parents/caregivers for getting students to rehearsals over the terms and helping with outfits. Senior Choir and Recorder will still meet this week for a final sing/play but there will be no rehearsals in Week 9 or 10. Choirs and Recorder will begin again in Week 3 of Term 1.
