It is hard to believe that this is the last newsletter for the year. I, along with all the staff, would like to thank everyone for their support over the year and hope everyone has a relaxing break over the holidays. We also wish the graduating year 6 students all the best as they finish at Enoggera State School. It has been lovely to watch these students grow this year and see the contributions they have made to the school as leaders. Good luck to all our year 6 students and all the best to other Enoggera families who are leaving us this year.
We also have some staff who are moving on. Good luck to Mrs Thomas, Miss Luckman, Miss Green and Mr Everett – we wish you all the best for your future ventures. On parade this week, we celebrated one staff member’s 30 years at Enoggera. Ms McKenzie has seen many changes over this time and supported a multitude of students. Her vast knowledge of Enoggera State School history is invaluable.
Our classes for 2020 have been finalised, with teachers taking into account many factors in forming class groups, including balancing the academic, social and behavioural needs. Students will be able to meet their teachers for next year this Friday, when parents will also be notified of classes by email.
Every year, we are supported by many volunteers from our community, who assist our students with activities such as reading, swimming, Wakakirri, working in our library and are also involved in mentoring individual students. Thank you so much to each and every one of you. Your support enriches the offerings to our students and it was lovely to see many of you at our volunteers’ morning tea.

Our swimming carnivals were a great success this year. Well done to everyone who participated and to the staff and, of course, Mrs Jardine for her organisation of the events. Congratulations to the age champions. Some of our classes have also had fun visiting the Planetarium and Nudgee Beach.

Have a safe and happy break and see you in 2020, when school resumes on Tuesday 28 January

It has been a busy and fun-filled term for Year 2, with the highlight being our excursion to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. The students had such a great day out observing and researching Australian Native animals up close. Thank you so much to the parents who came along to support the students and well done to the children for their excellent behaviour on the day.
We spent the next few weeks working on the English assessment linked to our excursion. The students have written factual information about a chosen animal and have used this to create a poster with supporting images and scientific labelling. The students then did a great job presenting their finished posters to the class.
The Year 2 teachers have enjoyed spending this year with your children and we wish them all the best as they travel through their schooling years. Thank you for a fantastic year of learning and support.
We hope that you all have a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.

RECYCLING -CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE -CONTAINERS HOLIDAY CHALLENGE!!!!
Together we have stopped over 10,000 containers from going into landfill this year. This is a great achievement and one we are certainly going to build on next year.
Now that the holidays are upon us , we want to ask all the families to embark on our Containers Challenge by collecting your holiday containers for the school! We have set the target at 2000 containers to be collected over the summer holiday period!!! Take your containers to your local depot during the holidays and use our Scheme ID so that your containers can be counted as part of the challenge! If you’d prefer to collect at home, the big purple bins will be ready for you in Term 1 of 2020!!!
Should you wish to still visit the depot you can use our ID number to donate to the P&C.
