ARTS ON STAGE
Our annual performing arts culminating activity Arts on Stage will be held in EPAC on Thursday evening this week. All of the performing arts groups will be performing on the evening. These will include the Senior and Junior Strings, Choir, Dance Ensembles, Wakakirri, Drama, Recorder Band and Robo Cup. Our Performing Arts staff have been working really hard to prepare the students for the evening.
Food sales through the P&C QKR! have now closed tickets have been distributed today to students. If you have missed purchasing tickets, we are now selling last-minute tickets through the school office until we reach EPAC capacity or until 3.30pm tomorrow afternoon. Please note no tickets will be for sale at the door and food sales have closed.
A reminder that students performing do not need to purchase a ticket as they will be supervised in the library for the evening when they are not performing and walked to EPAC to perform. Then back to the library after their performance, to be collected at the end of the evening. The concert only goes for about 1 ½ hrs, so is never a late night.
LEARNING CURVE FORTNIGHTLY FOCUS
Each week as part of our Learning Curve wellbeing program we focus on a category and wellbeing skill builder. This week we are working from the Health and Strengths category and the focus is called: Busting Bullying.
The WHY is for students to learn how to use their strengths to not give power to bullies, by not engaging with them at all. It is about using your strengths to walk away from those who try to push you around and show courage not to engage online with cowards, who choose to bully. By doing this you will protect your own wellbeing.
The HOW is to be happy with and proud of who you are, and do not give any attention to the students who feel bad about themselves and bully others. JOMO (Joy of missing out) is the best way to take all of the power away from bullies.
The DO is to think about a time when you showed courage to walk away from someone who tried to push you around.
CLASS PREFERENCES 2024
The parent class preference request form, where parents have an opportunity to provide some feedback around class placements for their children for next year, is attached to this newsletter.
The form needs to be returned to the office either in hard copy or digitally to the admin@enoggerass.eq.edu.au by this Friday November 10, to be considered, as we commence the process with teachers in readiness for next year.
This is not about selecting a teacher, as we do not have staffing finalised or teacher placements finalised until later in the term, but it is an opportunity to make us aware of any special information around learning styles, style of teacher and style of classroom and also re students to be placed with or otherwise. Whilst we take on board the feedback, of course there is no guarantee that all requests can be actioned, as ultimately, we have to make the best placements conducive to teaching and learning for all students.
2024 ENROLMENTS
We have completed our Prep Enrolment Meetings for next year and have over 65 students enrolled for three Prep classes for next year. If you are in catchment and are still wishing to enrol and have not had an enrolment meeting as yet, please contact the school office to make an appointment. Likewise, if you know of anyone that is still to enrol for next year, please encourage them to get their paperwork in and to make a booking.
We held our first transition morning last week for our 2024 Prep students and it was lovely to see them so excited to be starting Prep. Our next morning will be on November 17 from 9-11am with a different parent information session focus in EPAC.
2023 YEAR BOOK
A reminder that again this year we are producing a Year Book of the 2023 school year at Enoggera State School. This book is a great memory book of the year and is available to purchase by our families. It includes class pages and pages on all of our school events and activities throughout the year.
It also includes a special focus on our graduates. The book is gifted to our graduating students at the graduation ceremony in the last week of school and will also be available for collection for families who order and pay for one prior.
The cost this year is $30 as it is a little larger than last years book at 90 colour pages. If you wish to purchase the year book please complete the order form attached and return to the office with payment Friday, December 1, so that you do not miss out, as we only have 62 available this year first 62 families that order to receive their copy before the holidays. A further order can be placed after that for delivery at the start of school next year.
Q Parents Online Consents
We are currently moving to utilising a new feature in Q Parents for online consents. This facility can only be used for SRS, Excursions, State School Consent and Online Services Consent. We have just set this up for our Year 1-6 students for 2024, so if you have Q Parents, you will get an email alert to complete this consent process shortly. We are hoping that this will make collecting these consents a much easier process for parents and our admin staff who currently spend many hours inputting the data into One School.
Till next time,
Mrs Anne Robinson
Principal

Pillar Practice
Our three school pillars including Safety (Be Safe); Relationships (Be Respectful); and Learning (Be a Responsible Learner). Each fortnight at Assembly, a Pillar Practice is shared with staff and students that becomes our focus behaviour improvement. This fortnight, our Pillar Practice is around our Relationships Pillar focusing on using strategies to manage our big emotions and physical outbursts.
- Understanding the brain and how we can “Flip Our Lid”
- Using the ESS High Five strategies to self-manage our behaviours and emotions
- Other self- management strategies
Assembly
As our school has grown in size, so too has the length of our assembly! With assembly sometimes lasting an hour, this is a very long time to expect students to sit and listen especially at the end of the day! So, we have decided to reduce the length of assembly to approximately 30 minutes.
To do this, we are removing some items and condensing others. Assembly will still be an opportunity to present our Student of the Week Certificates, Award Gotcha Prizes, introduce the Learning Curve and Pillar Practice focus, have performances and student leaders to give reports.
Parents are invited to join us in the EPAC after 2:15pm. We will begin assembly at approximately 2:20pm which allows time at the end of assembly for senior leaders to pack up the chairs and for students to return to class to get their bags. Thanks for your understanding around shortening assembly time for the benefit of our students.
Our school has a very active Facebook page with daily posts to keep our school community informed of what is happening in our school. Our events are posted throughout the term to allow parents time to be prepared for the term ahead. Click on the more tab and then the events tab in the dropdown menu to go to our events.
The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed. A reminder that Facebook is not the best platform to ask questions that you need immediate or urgent replies to, as we don’t always see questions in the comment sections of a post. This is best done by emailing the teacher/admin or calling the office. Facebook is also not a site for posting complaints or negative comments about staff or school processes.
If you have some constructive feedback for the school or an issue that you would like to raise, we would respectfully ask that you make an appointment to speak with the Principal to discuss your concerns. Any inappropriate or derogatory comments will be removed from the platform.
Please remember to never make comments on the page referencing a child’s name for privacy reasons.
Student Leaders 2024
Mrs Robinson and Mrs Burrows continue to hold Student Leadership Workshops on Thursday at second break for our aspirant Year 5 students. This week, the topic being covered is writing and delivering speeches. The students continue to gather signatures for their application card and are working hard on their application letters that are due in on Thursday 16th November.
A panel of teachers and leadership will go through these applications and will announce the shortlisted students for School Captain on Friday 17th November.
Shortlisted students will give their speeches to the Year 4-6 cohort on Friday 24th November in the EPAC from 2pm. Parents are welcome to attend.
The positions of Arts Captains, Vice-Captain and Sports Captains do not require a speech, and are selected by the panel. Good luck to all the applicants.
Student Council News
Day for Daniel
Thank you to our school community for supporting Day for Daniel. As a community, we raised $270 to donate to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
Uniform Reminder
A reminder that students are required to wear ALL black shoes to school as part our Dress Code. Socks should be white only and should not be pulled up to the knees. As we begin our last term of the year, it is important that we maintain our dress code at all times. There has been a noticeable increase in the number of non-black shoes and colourful socks being worn to school. We ask parents to support our school dress code by ensuring their children have the correct shoes and socks at all times.
Year 5/6 Camp
A special thank you to Mrs Hall, Mr Emes, Ms Kerr and Mr Woodrick for joining me in taking our Year 5/6 students to the Luther Heights camp at Coolum last week. The weather was perfect for our students to enjoy a range of activities including beach games, koala climb, raft building, low ropes, orienteering, flying fox, escape room, milk crate climb and team building games.
The staff at Luther Heights were outstanding ensuring that our students were safe and challenged in their various activities. Our accommodation was very comfortable and we were excited to stay in the newer building called “Ocean Outlook”. The food was once again a highlight of the camp, with delicious meals being provided by the camp kitchen staff.
It was great to see our students demonstrating their manners and respect towards all camp staff. The kitchen staff complemented our students on being one of the best groups they had seen all year!
Well done ESS! Please check out our school Facebook Page to see more photos.
Remembrance Day
Every year as a nation we all pause for one minute’s silence at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month and bow our heads in respect to remember all of those who lost their lives on foreign shores or returned home injured from wars and conflicts.
This Friday as a whole school just before 11am, we will commemorate Remembrance Day by pausing to acknowledge those who have served and sacrificed for our country and those who continue to serve, like our parents, and many within our Enoggera community.
On Wednesday and Thursday morning before school, student leaders will be selling poppies for 50 cents for you to wear or place on a name plaque on our Wall of Honour at the front of the school.
This week our Year 3-6 students were invited to attend an incursion on “Safety on Socials”. Simon presented interesting information to teach our students how to be safe as they begin their journeys into gaming and social media on-line. Simon shared his own personal experiences of on-line bullying as Mayor of Byron Bay, and shared valuable strategies on how to deal with this. Please follow this link for parent information about helping children be safe on line.

Head of Department - Curriculum
Hello Parents and Caregivers,
Just a reminder that as we move towards the end of the year and the start of the new year – new rules for 2024 will be in place for payment deadlines. Full payment and consent forms must be handed in by their due date. If these deadlines are not met then students will unfortunately miss out.
To ensure your student/s do not miss out please keep an eye on the fortnightly newsletter, emails from the admin team and regularly check on QParents. We appreciate your help with this as the extra pressure on staff to constantly chase consents and payments, is enormous. If you are having financial difficulty, please contact me directly to discuss options.
The annual yearbook for 2023 is ready to be ordered! Please ensure you submit the order form prior to Friday the 24th of November to get your copy! Order forms have been emailed out and are in the office. An invoice will be raised once you submit your order form.
Please advise the admin staff if your student/s is planning on leaving at the end of 2023 – this excludes our leaving year 6 students. There is a formal process that needs to be followed to ensure a smooth transition to a new school – the sooner we have this information the quicker we can process this. Students leaving at the end of 2023, with student credits will be emailed out this week around transferring credits to current students etc.
If you have any other financial inquiries, please contact me directly on 07 3550 1333 or email me on bsm@enoggerass.eq.edu.au
Have a great week,

Arts on Stage
Just a reminder that our annual performing arts event “Arts on Stage” will be held in EPAC on Thursday evening on November 9. All of the performing arts groups will be performing on the evening. These will include the Snr and Jnr Strings, Snr and Jnr Choir, Wakakirri, Drama, Recorder Band, Robo Cup, and Snr and Jnr Dance Ensembles.
Our Performing Arts staff are working really hard to prepare the students for the evening. Food will be available from 4pm on the evening with doors open from 6pm and the show commencing at 6:15pm. All tickets and food sales must be pre-ordered through QKR.
All tickets are single tickets to ensure seating capacity in EPAC, therefore adults are $5 and children not performing $2. Students who are performing are asked to meet in the EPAC at 5:30, and will then be supervised by school staff in the library for the evening and walked to EPAC to perform and back to the library after their performance, to be collected at the end of the evening.

Year 3 News
Our students have done an amazing job upcycling many no longer wanted pieces of clothing this term. We have successfully designed quilts, pillows, pencil cases, handbags, toys, eye masks and more! The level of commitment to creating very original and useful items has been amazing. New skills such as cutting fabric, sewing on buttons, joining hems, tacking and pinning have been mastered by our young designers.
We have to give a huge THANK YOU to our Mums, Grandmas and Teacher aides whose patience have helped us with this mammoth task.
Mrs Andrea Moeser and Mr Jason Taylour
Year 3 Teachers
PREP students
On Thursday November 14, the PREP students will be making vegemite and cheese sandwiches. This activity will help students to think computationally or “ algorithmically”, visualising a sequence of steps to be followed in precise order. The students will be challenged to recall every step and display the process as a flowchart.
Please note that PREP students will have a quarter of a vegemite sandwich to eat at the end of the lesson so perhaps one less snack in the lunchbox on that day.
Year 5/6
Year 5/6 students are reminded to collect recyclable materials to be repurposed into model rockets e.g. scrap art paper; pen and pencil colours in pencil cases; clean, empty cardboard milk cartons; material and string to make a small parachute; and spare paper grocery bags.
Year 5/6 students are reminded they have “flipped” lessons to access each week, at https://qlearn.eq.edu.au/.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Amelia and Alexia for being the first two students at Enoggera SS to earn their “Hour of Code” Certificates. Note that this activity can be done at home at https://hourofcode.com/us/learn
Students generate their own certificates online then email them to mharr94@eq.edu.au for printing and laminating .
Students of all ages are invited to attend on Wednesdays (second lunch break in the computer lab) to participate in Hour of Code at Coding Club.
Arts on Stage
We are busily preparing the dancing robots for Arts on Stage Thursday November 9. The new robot club members are looking forward to performing on that night.
Frozen Fridays
Term 4 means the return of Frozen Fridays!
Join us at the tuckshop every Friday from 3pm-3.15pm for $1 ice blocks.
If you would like to help with Frozen Fridays please send an email or Facebook message to the P&C.
End of Year Movie Night
The P&C are hosting an event to celebrate the end of year which will include students performing carols, followed by a movie. Mark your calendars for Friday 1st December.
VIP beanbags are available to purchase via the Qkr app, get in quick before they all sell out.
From 4 pm, food trucks will be onsite and ready to provide dinner for families. There will also be a food van from the movie provider with hotdogs and popcorn available for light refreshments. Our very own Fairy Floss machine will be running once again.
This year there will also be a Christmas mini handmade market on the multipurpose courts from 4pm-7pm. Expressions of interest will be going out to students who would like to take part in this with their business (with parental supervision).
Remember to bring your picnic rug, or camp chairs if you don’t hire beanbags, so you can relax with your family and friends at this much anticipated and fun event. We look forward to seeing lots of families there to kick off the festive season.
Tuckshop
Volunteer opportunities for TERM 4- 2023 in the Tuck Inn are now available.
The tuckshop roster has weeks 2 to 9 listed for specific “Year Levels”, where we are seeking volunteers, whose children are in that year, e.g., Prep; Year 1; Year 2; etc.
This is a great opportunity for parents to meet other parents as well as experience the school tuckshop, or for a group of friends to sign up and have some fun for a couple of hours. Hopefully you will enjoy it enough to sign up on a regular basis for each term!
Please click on the following link to go to the signup sheet. All parents and grandparents are welcome to volunteer. Don’t be put off if the dates don’t suit. If you are available to volunteer on specific dates please sign up as we do not want to miss out on your help!
If you’re unable to help out in the tuckshop but have some time to bake, please sign up to the Home Baking roster.

We're on a mission to provide children with disabilities the opportunity to explore the world of gymnastics in a safe, quiet and one-on-one environment. Does your child feel overly fearful, anxious, or worried in certain situations?
Many children can feel anxious, fearful, or worried in certain situations. In most situations this is a normal emotion when faced with something threatening. Everyone can feel anxious from time to time. However, some children experience anxiety more intensely or more often than others and it stops them from having fun, going to school, or getting the most out of their life.
Take Action is an evidence-based program for 7- to 12-year-olds experiencing anxiety. Each child session takes approximately 1 hour, and the program runs over 10-12 weeks (either in-person or online). The program also includes six x 1-hour sessions for parents/carers to provide additional education and support on managing children’s anxiety.
All children receive a comprehensive assessment before and after the program, and all child and parent/carer workbooks and materials to practice Take Action skills at home are provided. The project has full ethics approval from the Griffith University Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC: 2023/381).
To find out more information and register to complete an initial assessment over the phone, please email us at cadrp@griffith.edu.au.
