Dear Parent and Caregivers,
LEARNING CURVE
This week the Learning Curve focus is from the ‘Health and Strengths’ category and the wellbeing skill builder is called ‘Kindness Spreads’ for P-2 and ‘Self Kindness’ for Yr 3-6. This week’s P-2 lesson highlights the importance of spreading kindness by being kind to both yourself and others. For Years 3-6, the focus is on recognising that the most important relationship you have is with yourself. It emphasises the need to be gentle and kind to yourself first, especially when you make mistakes or find something challenging.
These concepts were introduced in the Health lessons with Miss Dunstan this week and will be followed up in classrooms. Our Yr 3-6 students continue to track their progress in their Learning Curve diaries. The parent newsletter is attached below.
STAFFING
Mrs Donagh McKenzie (Success Teacher for 5/6) will be taking leave for all of Term 4. She will be backfilled by Miss Eliza Kelly. Mrs Jacque Egerton has also moved into a Success Teacher role for Term 4 and is being replaced on Prep A by Miss Sarah Dionysius. Miss Maddy Cartwright will continue on behind Mrs Andrea Moeser on 3A for the first two weeks of next term until Mrs Moeser returns from leave.
I will also be taking leave for all of Term 4. In my absence, Mrs Tina Burrows has been approved by the Regional Director to be Acting Principal for the term. Tina will be backfilled by Meg Parkinson who is the substantive Head of Department-Curriculum from Everton Park SS. Meg has completed a number of Deputy Principal relieving appointments and comes highly recommended by her School Supervisor.
PREP ENROLMENTS
Just a friendly reminder, if you know any families living in our catchment area who plan to enrol here next year, please encourage them to submit their enrolment paperwork as soon as possible. Prep Enrolment Interviews have already started and will continue until October 10th. Bookings for these interviews are now open through SOBS. Families can schedule their Prep enrolment interview using the following link:
https://eq.sobs.com.au/pt3/parent.php?schoolid=70109
The information below demonstrates how to book an interview spot.
Unfortunately, any out-of-catchment enrolments can only be considered after these interviews and in-catchment enrolment numbers are confirmed.
LATE ARRIVAL AND EARLY DEPARTURE ROUTINE
Please remember that if your child arrives late to school, they must go to the administration office to be signed in. They will receive a late slip to give to their teacher as confirmation they have been marked on the roll. We kindly ask parents not to take their child directly to the classroom or pick them up from there, as this can disrupt teaching and learning.
For Prep and Year 1 students who arrive late and sign in at the office, staff will supervise them as they enter their classrooms via the back of the office. Students in Years 2 to 6 are expected to make their way to class independently.
The same procedures apply for early departures. If you need to collect your child before the end of the day, please come to the office to sign them out. The office will then call your child to meet you there.
To minimize disruptions and keep students safe, we ask all parents to follow these routines, which help maximize teaching time and ensure everyone’s safety.
READER’S CUP TEAM OFF TO STATE FINALS
It was wonderful to attend the State Reader’s Cup finals with our Brisbane North Champions at Moreton Bay College in week 8. They worked so well as a team and worked so hard on the new books, resulting in a credible performance on the day where they finished in 7th place, only 5 points behind the winners. Congratulations to Ella B, Zoe W, Vishnu G, Brea G and Lara G. You worked hard and did your school and your Region proud.
GRADUATION
Due to increased numbers, we have arranged a new venue for this year’s Year 6 Graduation dinner. The event will be held at the Arana Leagues Club, a popular choice in previous years.
The formal Graduation ceremony will take place at school on the morning of December 11, followed by a morning tea with family. Later that day, we will hold the traditional guard of honour at the front of the school at 3 pm, with the Graduation dinner to follow that evening.
Further details about costs, ticket bookings, and invitations will be sent out early next term.
SCHOOL WATCH
A reminder to keep an eye out on our school over the holidays. If you see anything suspicious please call the school watch number 13 17 88 to place a report. If we all work together, we can keep our school safe over the holidays. Camp Australia will be onsite over the break and our cleaners and grounds staff will be working during the first and second week during the days, but at other times the site should be empty.
HOLIDAYS
This Friday we commence the Spring vacation and we will return to school on Tuesday October 7th after the Kings Birthday long weekend. We wish all of our Enoggera families and staff a very happy holiday and hope that if you are travelling on our state’s roads you take care and enjoy some happy family time together. We look forward to seeing our lovely students and staff back refreshed and ready for the final term which is action packed with events and activities to round off the year.
Till next time,
Mrs Anne Robinson
Our school has a very active Facebook page with daily posts to keep our school community informed of what is happening in our school. Our events are posted throughout the term to allow parents time to be prepared for the term ahead. Click on the more tab and then the events tab in the dropdown menu to go to our events. You will notice that the Term 4 events will start to be posted soon.
The more you interact with the page by liking and commenting on posts, the more our page will appear in your newsfeed. A reminder that Facebook is not the best platform to ask questions that you need immediate or urgent replies to, as we don’t always see questions in the comment sections of a post. This is best done by emailing the teacher/admin or calling the office. Facebook is also not a site for posting complaints or negative comments about staff or school processes. If you have some constructive feedback for the school or an issue that you would like to raise, we would respectfully ask that you make an appointment to speak with the Principal to discuss your concerns. Any inappropriate or derogatory comments will be removed from the platform.
Pillar Practice
Our three school pillars include Safety (Be Safe); Relationships (Be Respectful); and Learning (Be a Responsible Learner). Each fortnight at Assembly, a Pillar Practice is shared with staff and students that becomes our focus behaviour improvement. This fortnight, our Pillar Practice focusses on making green choices during break times in all play areas.
This includes following the rules, being in the right place at the right time, being respectful of others and managing emotions. Students are being reminded of the process for managing behaviour which includes a warning, a logical consequence such as sitting out for a short time or moving to another play area. If red choices are dangerous or continue, students can receive a Red Time Out Card to take to the office to miss out on play for the rest of that break.
STUDENT COUNCIL
Thank you for your support of the Subway Meal Deal. The Student Council will have a variety of events happening next term to continue with their fundraising for their legacy item. There will be a free dress day, the class Pizza Party day, and a wellbeing activity. The Student Council have been working very hard this year to make positive changes in their school on behalf of the students they represent.
Spelling Bee
Over the last two weeks, Mrs Robinson and Mrs Burrows have been visiting each year level for their mini spelling bee competition to find the chamion speller for each year level. Our seven finalists will now compete in the annual Enoggera State School Spelling Bee! Each student will represent their year level and will compete in elimination rounds in which they are asked to spell words specific to their year level.
Our spelling Bee year level champions for 2025 are:
Prep - Zach M-M
Year 1 - Ellyse F
year 2- Maisie C
Year 3 - Titus H
Year 4 - Shashwat K
Year 5 - Aryan C
Year 6 - Rose T
Good luck to all the competitors!

Before and After School Behaviour
Just a friendly reminder to please monitor your children before and after school in the front garden and under buildings. Students are not permitted to run on the concrete, ride scooters/bikes in the school grounds or kick balls around the buildings. Also, please ensure that students are not running through the front gardens or walking along the garden wall as some of the bricks are becoming unstable. Thanks for your support with these safety expectations.
Student Leaders 2025
Next term, Year 5 students are invited to apply for a student leader position in 2026 at Enoggera State School.
There are multiple positions available:
- 2x School Captains
- 1x Student Council Chairperson (Vice-Captain)
- 2x Banksia House Captains (Banksia Students only)
- 2x Waratah House Captains (Waratah Students only)
- 2x Arts Captains
- 2x Environmental Captains
- Student Council Class Representatives Yr 3-6 (Process in class in 2026)
Successful applicants for all positions can be boys or girls. There will be four Student Leader Workshops run at lunch breaks with Mrs Robinson and Mrs Burrows to assist the students to prepare their applications and learn about leadership. Attending these workshops is recommended but not essential. There are other leadership opportunities for students in Year 6 including Tech Crew and Pink Vest Volunteers. These are a different process that will implemented in 2026. More information will be provided next term.
Enoggera’s Got Talent
Many students have been asking if we are running another Enoggera’s Got Talent show in 2025. The answer is YES! Early next term, students will be able to put a nomination in for a talent item – this could be individual or groups. Students can choose to showcase a talent such as singing, dancing, magic trick, playing an instrument etc. There will be heats held during lunch times from Week 8 and finalists will be announced for the Finals show in Week 10.
Happy Holidays
The year is certainly racing by, as it seems to do every year! It has been a great term with lots of things to celebrate in our school community. I hope that everyone has a relaxing holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone back next term for the warmer weather and all the excitement that Term 4 brings!

QPARENTS – Your Link to School Updates
A friendly reminder to all parents and caregivers: QParents is now our main communication channel for sharing important school information, including permission forms and invoices.
To stay up to date and avoid missing key messages or deadlines, we encourage all families to register for QParents as soon as possible.
Please note: Families who are not registered will need to collect paper copies of forms and notices directly from the school office.
Thank you for helping us create a more efficient and environmentally conscious way to stay connected!
LOST PROPERTY – Final Check Before the Holidays!
As we wrap up the final week of term, our Lost Property area (located just below the administration office, near the uniform shop) is still bursting with misplaced items — socks, hats, jumpers, and more.
If your child is missing something, please encourage them to check the Lost Property before the term ends.
All remaining items will be safely stored over the holidays and available for collection next term.
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful parent volunteers for keeping everything organised — your help is truly appreciated!
CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE – HOLIDAY DONATIONS WELCOME!
Got bottles and cans piling up over the break? Put them to good use and help our school at the same time!
Through the Containers for Change Schools Program, every eligible container you donate helps raise funds for Enoggera State School, while also teaching our students the value of sustainability.
If you’re collecting at home over the break, simply take your containers to any official drop-off point and use our school code: C11523111.
Let’s turn holiday recycling into real benefits for our school — every container makes a difference. Thank you for your continued support!
HOLIDAY WORKS NOTICE
For parents with children attending Camp Australia during the holidays, please be advised that the bike cage will be out of use during the second week of the holidays as we are having an extension built. Workers will fence off this area, so please do not leave bikes near or around this zone. Bikes can be chained up along the church wire fence if children are riding to school.
Additionally, guttering work will be carried out at the front of the administration building. Please avoid this area while workers are onsite for your safety.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
As we wrap up the term, we’d like to thank our amazing school community for your continued support. Wishing you all a happy and restful holiday.
See you next term

English
This term, students in Year 3 have been working on book or movie reviews. Students have enjoyed engaging with texts and learning how to give engaging reviews and presentations. They have been working on their tone, pitch, pace and volume when speaking in front of people as well as learning non-verbal skills like making eye contact and using hand gestures.
As part of this unit, the students have made incredible review posters to use as part of their presentation. Below are just some examples of the amazing work they have created.
Year 3 Teachers,
Andrea Moeser, Jason Taylour and Laura Jones
In Term 4 Coding Club, we will be working on a project aimed at inspiring future students to engage more with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) both inside and outside of school. Using Microsoft Teams, we will conduct short interviews with people from STEM fields who have connections to the Enoggera School community.
If you know someone with a STEM story to share, or if you have one yourself, please email Mr. Harris as soon as possible.
Mr Michael Harris

In Week 8's assembly some of our wonderful Year 6 students took part in a flash mob to announce our 2026 Whole School Musical.
Enoggera State School Presents... Madagascar Jnr
All students from Prep to Year 6 can be involved. The process will be similar to our last musical. We will be auditioning for leads roles first. Leads audition are for students currently in Years 3 -5. Last week we held 2 information sessions for our Year 3 - 5 students and we've had approx. 80 students interested so far which is incredible. Thank you to Mrs Rees for running those sessions.

Arts on Stage Save the Date

Ensembles involved in the performance include Vocal Performance Team, Dance Performance Team, Senior Strings, Chamber Strings, Junior Strings, Concert Band, Senior Choir, Junior Choir, Recorder Band, Boys Crew, Red Dance, Green Dance and Purple Dance.
More information regarding our Arts on Stage Performance will be out soon. Please keep an eye out for your emails.
Dance Ensembles, Choirs & Recorder
Please ensure students attend all rehearsals as they prepare for Arts on Stage in Term 4. It’s important that students participate consistently, as many are missing rehearsals even when at school. Encouraging regular practice at home will also help. Most groups are close to completing their pieces, and once ready, they may have the chance to perform at assembly. More details will be shared in the coming weeks. Keep up the great work and keep practising!
Reminder for Strings & Band Students
Many students are still forgetting to bring their instruments to lessons. Please make sure your child brings their instrument every week and takes it home at the end of the day. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, a lot of instruments are being left behind in the EPAC. It’s important that students take their instruments home daily.

Tennis
The ESS tennis tournament has been a great success! Last week, Years 3 and 4 competed to determine who will advance to face the Year 5 and 6 students. Congratulations to Kieran C, Sam C, and Charlie O.S., who have made it through to the next round.
