Dear Parents and Caregivers,

It is with great excitement that I step up to the role of Acting Principal at Enoggera State School for Term 4 while Mrs Robinson enjoys well-deserved leave. I was thrilled to accept this opportunity after applying for the expression of interest to act above level

I would also like to welcome Ms Meg Parkinson who was successful in her application to relieve as Acting Deputy while I am acting in this Pricipal role. Meg joins us from Everton Park State School and joins us with lots of experience and knowledge to share. I know that you will all make her feel welcome in our school community.

It has been a busy start to the new term with our Year 5/6 students participating in the first of 3 weeks of Gala Sports on Friday. The Year 5/6 students are also attending the Queensland Volleyball Cup this Thursday that was postponed from last term due to rain. Year 3/4 students are enjoying 3 weeks of sporting skills rotations on Fridays from 12:10pm to 3pm. Swimming also started in the first week of school and with the arrival of some hot weather, it won’t take long for the pool to heat up.  Mr Woodrick is excited to be back in the pool for swimming lessons in Term 4. We also have our junior and senior swimming carnivals being held in Week 9.

Year 3 has an exciting excursion planned for Nudgee Beach coming up in Week Four; and Year 1 have two incursions for Fire Education including a fire truck visit on the oval! Book Fair will be held again this term from Friday 7th November to Wednesday 12th November with purchasing available until late for parents on Monday 10th November. The Student Leadership process for aspiring Year 5s will begin in Week 3 with a series of workshops and applications to be submitted. We have our 2026 preps visiting for their three transition mornings starting on Friday 7th November. There is so much happening in Term Four – and I haven’t even mentioned Graduation, Enoggera’s Got Talent, Arts on Stage, Xmas Carols, Strings Music Fest, Day for Daniel, Roll Up afternoon and the Principal’s Awards Assembly!!

I am looking forward to an amazing term of learning and celebrations!

LEARNING CURVE WELLBEING PROGRAM

The Learning Curve focus this week is from the ‘Relationships and Empathy’ category and the wellbeing skill builder is Celebrating Differences. This topic is above ensuring that we understand that everyone in our school community has their own different backgrounds and strengths and to ensure that we value and celebrate these differences, because if we can accept and celebrate other’s differences, we will feel more connected to our school community.

They are working on this topic during their Health lessons and then following up with their class teachers as well as using their ESS Learning Curve diaries. The parent article re this topic is attached for your information.

STAFFING

Mrs Donagh McKenzie (Success Teacher) is on Long Service Leave for all of Term 4.  She is being backfilled by Miss Eliza Kelly. Mrs Jacque Egerton has also moved into a Success Teacher role for Term 4 and is being replaced on prep A by Miss Sarah Dionysius, although now she is Mrs McCabe as she was married at the end of Term 3 – congratulations to Sarah! We thank Miss Maddy Cartwright for the wonderful job she has done covering 3A while Mrs Moeser has been travelling. Mrs Moeser returns to school next week. We welcome Miss Tamara Dowling back to school after her Long Service Leave in Term 4. We also welcome Mrs Belinda Gordon who is working as an additional allocation in the Success Team to support inclusion and intervention.

CLASS NEWSLETTERS

A reminder to parents that Class Newsletter and Term Overviews will be emailed out on Friday with important information about your child’s class/es for the term ahead.   Please check your junk folders if you haven’t received your email by Friday 4pm.

LATE ARRIVALS AND EARLY DEPARTURE ROUTINE

A friendly reminder that if your chid arrives late to school, they must go to the office to be signed in. They will receive a late slip to give to their teacher as confirmation they have been marked on the roll. We kindly ask parents not to take their child directly to the classroom or pick them up from there, as this can be disruptive to teaching and learning.

For Prep and Year 11 students who arrive late and sign in at the office, staff will supervise them as they enter their classrooms via the back of the office.  Students in year 2 to 6 are expected make their way to class independently.  The same procedures apply for early departures.  If you need to collect your child before the end of the day, please come to the office to sign them out.  The office will then call your child to meet you there.  To minimise disruption and keep students safe, we ask all parents to follow these routines which help maximise teaching time and ensure everyone’s safety.

2026 CLASS PREFERENCE FORMS

Please find attached below the class preference form for students for 2025. There is a space on the form to indicate if your students will be returning to ESS for 2026 and if so, this is an opportunity to reflect on this year and indicate a preference of the style of class and teacher that would suit your students better and there is also a place to indicate students you would prefer they be placed with or not for next year.  These forms will need to be returned to the administration office (not class teachers) by the end of Week 4- 31st October, to be considered in the class placement process.  We will commence this process with teachers in Week 5. Please be reminded that this is not an opportunity to choose a teacher as at this stage staffing and teacher placements for next year have not been finalised. Whilst we take on board the feedback, of course there is no guarantee that all requests can be actioned, as ultimately, we have to make the best placements conducive to teaching and learning for all students.

PREP 2026 ENROLMENTS AND TRANSITION MORNINGS

A reminder that if you know of families who live in our catchment and are planning to come here next year, please remind them to get their enrolments in asap as we are now planning for the next phase of the process which is the Prep Transition mornings to be held over three Friday mornings from 9am t0 11am on Friday 7th, 14th and 21st November for all enrolled 2026 Prep students.  Email reminders around the transition processes will be sent out to all enrolled families next week.

GRADUATION

A reminder that our Graduation Ceremony for our Yr 6 student will be held on Thursday 11th December at 9:00am in EPAC and this will be followed by the Guard of Honour later in the day at 2:55pm and then the Graduation Dinner will be held that night at the Arana Leagues Club at 6pm. Information will go out shortly to the Yr 6 families with information about the event including the cost of tickets for dinner.  There will be a limit on 3 tickets per student to the dinner (graduate and 2 parents) only.

STUDENT WELLBEING OFFICER

Sadly, our Student Wellbeing Officer Alisha Pearson resigned prior to the end of Term 3 as she accepted a position in a school closer to her home. We have managed to secure a replacement Student Wellbeing Officer to join us this term to continue to support students. Dominic Cossens will be working at Enoggera State School on Monday and Friday. He will continue the great work done to support students including Breakfast Club on Friday morning, the AstroTurf Dance Club, Social Skills group and student support. Dominic has a wealth of experience in this role working in this capacity in other school.

Till next time,

Ms Tina Burrows

Acting Principal
