It has been a privilege to work alongside staff and parents over the past weeks, as we prepared for students to continue learning. There have been some frustrations as we have navigated new ways of learning, but overall there has been an air of positivity and optimism. There has also been some innovative programs developed by teachers and creative delivery of learning by parents.
We are looking forward to having students back at school, however I am waiting for the official Department of Education advice rather than speculating about the many ideas we are hearing through the media. I will advise parents and families of any advice or decisions as soon as they are received from the Department. In the interim, the advice remains that only children of parents working outside the home are able to attend school.
Thank you to the many parents and carers who have spoken to school staff, emailed or sent a text - your comments and feedback have been appreciated. Thank you also to parents who have shared photos and stories for inclusion on our Enoggera State School Facebook page. It has been such a joy to see the fabulous activities going on at home. Keep those stories coming to keepingessconnected@enoggerass.eq.edu.au One common feedback received from parents is that children are not getting work completed. It’s fine not to get through all the work provided as teachers will be reviewing key concepts when students return to school.
To those who were able to connect for one of our iSee sessions – I hope your children enjoyed them as much as teachers did. If you struggled to connect to iSee, please let us know by emailing Anita ( acoat35@eq.edu.au ) with screen shots of any errors or issues and we will endeavour to provide some IT support. Please understand that our Technical Officer is only available two days per week so support won’t be instantaneous. Teachers will be emailing you about further iSee sessions in the coming days as we include this new technology into our teaching and learning.
Once again take care and keep well.

Hello please note if you are installing iSEE on an Apple computer can you please ensure you right click on the installation file after download and then select open from the menu that will appear. See image for example.
If you simply double click on the installation file you will be prompted with an error message saying something along the lines of “iSeeQLDDoe installer can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. Contact developer”
This has been a very different start of term for Year 1 with students learning from home instead of in the classroom. The Year 1 teachers have collaborated to put together a program that easily steps parents and students through each topic in maths, English, science and HASS.
The Year 1 teachers would like to say “thank you” to all parents and caregivers for your patience and support as we all traverse this new learning paradigm. We will continue to check in with you on a regular basis but please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher if you have any questions or concerns with the learning at home materials.
This week, each class has had an on-line session with students via the iSee platform to enable students and teachers to see and talk to each other. We are hoping to have further sessions in the coming weeks.
We have included two fun, independent scavenger hunt activities that students may wish to complete while they are at home.
Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Kind Regards
Kim Turner, Mel Webb, Rebecca Nelson

Wakakirri
We are yet to hear from Wakakirri as to how it may proceed in 2020. As soon as we have information, we will pass it on to families. In the meantime, our Years 5-6 students have been given some design challenge tasks through their edStudio space. Designs too may be uploaded through Dropbox.
The payment fee of $50 is still on hold until further notice.
As the 2019 National Health Category winners, we were recipients of a free cyber bullying workshop. The workshop was to be delivered on May 8th however, given current circumstances we are liasing with BullyZero Victoria for a virtual delivery upon students return to school.
These are certainly unprecedented times. Thank you for your understanding and support. Wishing all of our families well.

Welcome back to a very different and interesting Term 2. I hope everyone had a safe, healthy and fun Easter break.
Even though we are all learning differently this term and everything is a bit strange for us, it is actually a fantastic opportunity to read on many different platforms. We can’t wait to hear about all of your reading adventures when we are all together again.
This term Scholastic Book Club aren’t issuing paper brochures. If you are interested in purchasing from them, the link for the virtual brochure is below. On the last page of the brochure you will find how to order. For anyone who does make a purchase, when your order arrives at school, I will call you for collection. Don’t forget that as a bonus the school receives free resources with any purchases made. But more importantly your child gets to build on their own personal book collection.

If you have any questions surrounding the online Music program- mxhop2@eq.edu.au
Choice grids have been provided for lessons with some containing a recommended activity- this means that not everything needs to get done. 1-2 activities is plenty depending on how large the activity is (approximately 30 mins is the aim).
Junior Choir and Senior Choir
Term 1 songs (lyrics and backing tracks) have been added to the Music Edstudio so that any keen singers can get on there and keep practicing. Hopefully we can sing together again soon.

Regional School Sport incorporates ‘Every student succeeding is the shared vision of Queensland state schools’. This vision shapes District and Regional school sport planning to ensure every student receives the support needed to belong to the school sport community, engage purposefully in physical activity and share in sporting success. Regional School Sport should aim to maximise opportunities for all students to participate and excel in their chosen sport through organised district, regional and state competitions and championships. COVID-19 has changed the way we do many things including how we learn and how we participate in sport and physical activity.
It is very important that children and young people continue to engage in physical activity while learning at home. Physical activity not only has physical benefits, but also benefits for mental health and wellbeing. Including the activities found on the Department’s learning@home page into your child’s daily routine will support a balanced approach to learning at home.
Over weeks 3, 4 and 5 this term, students who are learning from home or at school will have the opportunity to download any running app for their phone or smart watch and submit their time to be considered for our ‘All-Met North Honorary Cross Country Team’. Students may also get their school to time a run as part of HPE Lessons/Sport time and submit a verified time directly. Students can submit multiple times and the best time will be used to determine our winners. Medals and certificates will be sent to the winning student’s school. For this year only, we will be awarding a Champion School with the largest number of participants.

Dear ESS families,
We hope you are doing ok with the current health guidelines and their restrictions.
In this unprecedented time we have been working to keep the P&C ticking over and will continue to do so. We are hoping to run our AGM by the end of term (online) and will keep you updated and ensure plenty of notice is given if it goes ahead.
We want to thank the Staff at ESS for helping guide our children through this time. The current framework for their education is new and we understand it takes a lot of work behind the scenes to set up and roll out. We appreciate that you too may be learning new skills in order to work this way and we thank you for your diligence and commitment to our children’s education. We also thank you for ensuring that for those of us who struggle to facilitate these kind of lessons at home, that the message has been clear that there are many ways and activities for children to learn, and that they are all relevant and enough.
We look forward to re-connecting in person when it is safe to do so.
EVENTS
Due to the current health climate we have postponed our events taking place over the next couple of months.

If you are unavailable to attend the new date you will be able to get a refund.
Crazy Colour School Fun Run has been postponed and we are looking at possible dates for Term 3. Ideally we will run this event as soon as possible and look forward to celebrating with you all once it is safe to do so.
CONTAINERS FOR CHANGE
WE NEED YOUR CONTAINERS
Unsure which drink containers to bring to the school?
Just check the back of the bottles for the 10c refund symbol. If the 10c refund is noted on the bottle they can be collected and brought to the school for disposal in big the purple bins.
For a full break down of the included and excluded containers, please follow this link to the Containers for Change website: how-it-works.
Unsure how to collect your containers?
You can collect your containers using whatever you like! There is no need to have special bags for the collection. Just put your containers in a bucket, tub, storage container or even an old shopping bag and when it is full, put it in the boot of your car and empty the containers into the purple bins located at the front and back of the school between 7am and 3pm. It's that easy.
Remember to only dispose of eligible containers and not rubbish.

"I really love the online package and so does Oliver. Oliver particularly likes striking a pose and filming himself. He described the weekly catch up as, "So cool because I get to see all of my friends!" I love that Oliver gets to be social and engaged with his own speak up crew.” - Elizabeth Dixon
