Dear Parent and Caregivers,
LEARNING CURVE
This week our Learning Curve program is from the ‘Meaning and Purpose’ category.
The wellbeing skill builder is ‘Saying Sorry’ and Forgiving for the Prep to Year 2 and ‘Strength of Character’ for the Year 3-6 classes. The Junior idea is about being kind to others and ensuring they say sorry if they hurt or upset someone. It is also about using their strength of courage to forgive someone when they have hurt them or upset them.
The Senior topic is about the same idea but more focussed on using their strength of character to say sorry and forgive others. The aim is to grow their best self by showing in their thoughts, words and actions that other people matter.
These concepts were introduced on assembly this week and were taught in the Health lessons with Miss Dunstan and followed up in classrooms. Our Year 3-6 students continue to track their progress in their Learning Curve diaries. The parent newsletter is attached below.

2026 SCHOOL CATCHMENT
The Qld Government Statisticians Office (QGSO) each year reviews and updates, if necessary, state school catchment areas to take into account changes such as, new roads and subdivision activity, changes to land parcel structures, modifications to existing road structures and changes to schools such as entry points and offerings to ensure that a school’s catchment area is equal distance to and from main entrances to neighbouring schools using the trafficable road network by return journey.
We have been advised that for 2026 there will be changes to our catchment area which reduces our catchment by 102 parcels of land which they indicated may mean a reduction of 22 students for future enrolments.
Of course, families who are already attending or have siblings coming or enrolments that have already been accepted for 2026 are exempt, however any new enrolments after these changes go live in September ready for next year, will be deemed outside of our catchment. The impacted area involves all of Hilda St and Edith St and some houses in Wardell St, Lloyd St, Verdun St, Moore St, Griton St, Marne St, Cole St, Hall St, Alderley Ave, Mina Pde and Wakefield St as per the section of the catchment map below, which show the proposed changes. (solid line is the new catchment from 2026 and dotted line show the current catchment). As part of this the P and C have been made aware of the proposed changes for 2026.
So, I encourage any families who live in these impacted streets who have students wishing to enrol at ESS for 2026 do so immediately and prior to September to be exempt from these changes.
PREP ENROLMENTS
If you know of families who live in our catchment and are hoping to come here next year, please let them know of the next Open Day coming up next term on July 25th from 9-11am. Families who have made their decision can drop in enrolments forms to the office at any stage to enable us to get them on the system and into the communication channels for next year.
DANCE AND VOCAL PERFORMANCE TEAMS
Recently, our very talented Dance Performance Team (DPT) performed at the Sunshine Coast Eisteddfod as their very first competitive performance. They won a third place for their Jazz routine ‘Respect’ and a VHC (Very Highly Commended) for their contemporary routine ‘Ashes’. They are now working on their feedback for their next performance at the Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge (BPAC) next week at Seventeen Mile Rocks.
Likewise, our Vocal Performance Team (VPT) under the direction of Mrs Rebecca Rees, recently performed at the DoE Choral Fanfare event. They also received excellent feedback and were presented with a GOLD Award at the event. We wait now to see if they will be selected to come back and perform at the Choral Fanfare Finals. Their next competition will be Singfest in week 7 of next term at Wavell SHS.
We congratulate both of our teams and wish them all the best in their next ventures.
STUDENT COUNCIL
Recently, the cold water bubbler and bottler filler was installed under D Block to replace one of the old bubbler troughs. This was made possible through the Student Council funds raised throughout 2024, particularly from their major fundraiser the Spell-a-thon. The P and C have decided to postpone the Family Fun Day for this year and run a Colour Run instead. The only dates that were available to them clashed with other events so we have decided to mover the Spell-a-thon forward to the end of this term and early next term. This will allow both of our school fund raising entities a chance to run their activities.
ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING
A reminder that as we move into the business end of the Semester, students will be completing end of semester assessments in all of their learning areas to go towards their gradings on their report cards. We ask that families ensure students are attending school every day during this time, unless they are sick and that they are ready to do their best every day. The Semester One report cards will be emailed home on Thursday 26th June. If you have changed emails, please ensure your email addresses are up to date at school.
Currently, we are working through consultation with the various stakeholders around some changes to the personal comments on the report cards. Some of these changes will be implemented this semester once consultation has been completed and considered and final decisions are made by the school’s leadership team. These will be discussed in the newsletter next fortnight once this process has been completed.
Till next time,

National Simultaneous Storytime
This week students engaged in some follow up colouring of The Truck Cat by Deborah Frenkel as part of National Simultaneous Storytime. Congratulations to Summer, Anna and James for their excellent colouring.
Learning at Enoggera
At present students are transitioning into the You do stage of learning. This is when students are taking the Term Two knowledge and skills explicitly taught and modelled and applying these to a range of contexts and situations independently. This information in conjunction with assessment tasks being administered over the next few weeks will provide teachers with opportunities to determine how effectively students are demonstrating year level expectations and achievement standards in each curriculum learning area. Student data will be used to provide on-balance informed judgements for Semester One Reporting.
To ensure your child is set up for classroom success it is vital that they are at school on time every day.

Please note that invoices are always emailed to the paying parent, as nominated at enrolment. This setup can only be changed with a written request. As a result, only the paying parent will be able to view invoices through QParents.
If you think there might be a student credit on your account, feel free to reach out to me directly so I can apply it for you—credits can not be applied via QParents.
We really encourage all families to sign up for QParents to keep on top of invoices and stay connected with school updates.
If you have any questions, need help, or would like to talk about setting up a payment plan, you’re always welcome to get in touch with me at bsm@enoggerass.eq.edu.au.
Thanks for your support!
QParents – Stay Connected and Informed
We kindly remind all parents and caregivers that QParents is now the primary platform for receiving school communications, including consent forms and invoices.
To ensure you don’t miss any important information or deadlines, we strongly encourage all families to register for QParents as soon as possible.
If you choose not to sign up for QParents, please be aware that you will need to visit the school office regularly to collect any hard copy consent forms or notices.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us streamline communication and support a more efficient, environmentally friendly process.
Lost Property
With jumper season in full swing, it’s the perfect time for a quick reminder!
The school’s Lost Property lives just under the administration office, right outside the uniform shop – your go-to spot for reunited socks, strayed school hats, and those mysteriously disappearing jumpers!
A huge thank you to the amazing parents in our community who check in daily and help keep things organised – you're the real team players!
If your child is missing something (especially now that jumpers seem to grow legs and wander off), make sure they stop by and check regularly. You would be surprised how often things wander back home after a few days (or weeks) on a solo adventure!
Have a wonderful fortnight!

We are currently researching an Australian Endangered Animal in the subject areas of English and Science this term so that we can write our own information report. We have learnt all about reliable website sources when researching and how to turn our research notes into our own sentences and paragraphs. We are creating a poster for this assessment where we will have four distinct paragraphs on Appearance, Habitat and Diet and also a Threats and Solutions paragraph for our chosen animal.
Along with this, we also need to include the science elements we’ve been learning about; including a life cycle diagram and information, a habitat features table and a survival needs flowchart. We are looking forward to putting this altogether over the coming weeks and proudly displaying our finished posters around the classrooms when we’ve completed them. Feel free to pop in to view these at the end of the term!

Passwords
Thank you to all the Year One students who have been practising their QLearn passwords at home. Typing skills have improved across the Year 1 cohort yet many students continue to struggle with using the "Shift" key to make capital letters. I greatly appreciate parents and guardians helping the students type their password at home. Power off the computer to practise the key pattern.
Try to do this regularly - daily would be ideal! Typing on a phone or iPad will be time well spent to assist students access their weekly online lessons.
Premier's Coding Challenge
Premier's Coding Challenge students are asked to open a Scratch Online account to help with developing their projects at home then again at school. Parents and guardians please sign-up your child with your email address.
We already have some completed prototypes, but we also have lost some students as well. All Challenge students are welcome to see Mr Harris for coding hints. Before school is an excellent time to drop by. Bring a friend to the Computer Lab any day of the week (8.30 - 8.40am)

Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month is a community initiative held in Queensland each May to raise community awareness of the social and personal impacts of domestic and family violence and the support available to those affected.
The key aims of the month are to:
- Raise community awareness of domestic and family violence and its impacts;
- Promote a clear message of no tolerance of domestic and family violence in Queensland communities;
- Ensure those who are experiencing domestic and family violence know how to access help and support;
- Encourage people who use abuse and/or violence to take responsibility for their abusive behaviour and seek support to change.
Domestic and family violence is about one person in a relationship using power to control the other person. This may include verbal abuse, emotional/psychological abuse, physical and sexual abuse, financial control, social abuse and stalking. Domestic and family violence is very common, and in Australia it is estimated that around 1 in 4 people are affected.
As a community we need to reinforce that violence against women and children is never okay and will not be tolerated. Everyone deserves to be safe and feel safe, and live free from the threat of domestic and family violence. If you or someone you know is being affected by domestic and family violence, please don’t ignore your concerns, and know that help and support is available. If you are in danger, don’t feel safe or fear for someone’s safety, call triple 000 immediately and ask for Qld police.
For information and support for people affected by domestic and family violence, contact 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732) 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

Dance Performance Team
Congratulations to our fabulous Dance Performance Team on a fantastic day at Sunshine Coast Dance Eisteddfod. On Wednesday 14 May students travelled to the Events Centre Caloundra for their very first Eisteddfod competition. Our students were kind, respectful and showed fantastic sportsmanship- not only when supporting each other, but also in cheering on other schools. I want to commend them for their dedication in the lead-up to the event, as well as their incredible effort throughout the day. They were truly outstanding.
Our first performance was all about showing up, doing our absolute best, performing in a new environment, and most importantly—having fun. And what a day it was! We placed 3rd out of 12 schools in the Grade 6 and Under Jazz/Hip Hop section with our Respect (Jazz) routine, and received a Very Highly Commended in the Grade 6 and Under Any Style category with our Ashes (Contemporary) routine.
We also received some wonderful feedback from the adjudicator. She loved our costume and music choices, commented on the fantastic energy and commitment to the dancing, and said how much she enjoyed watching the team on stage.
Congratulations again to our Dance Team. Mrs Rees and I are so proud of you and we cannot wait until the next competition in Week 7 at Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge (BPAC).
Please make sure students have all of their items packed and ready. Please refer to the Performance Pack (Version 5) for all of the items the students need for the day and the times for drop off and pick up. Students have their final rehearsal before BPAC on Thursday 29th of May. Please make sure students arrive on time and ready.
We can't wait to take the stage again soon!

Consent and Invoices have been sent home. Please ensure you make note of the due dates and action these asap. We appreciate your understanding with this.
Vocal Performance Team
We also want to congratulate our Vocal Performance Team who earned a Gold Award at Choral Fanfare last Monday. They have been working hard and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of performing amongst other schools in the Metropolitain North area. The team will now focus on preparing for Singfest in August, where they will join with other schools to sing a range of repertoire, with experienced conductors, in a mass choir.

The winter soiree will be held on Thursday 12th June (Week 8). The groups that will be performing are Junior and Senior Strings, Band, Junior and Senior Choir and Vocal Performance Team. No Dance Groups or Recorder Band will be performing at the Winter Soiree.
An email with all of the information regarding the event will be sent out via email so please keep a look out for this. We look forward to seeing you there.
If you have any questions regarding the Winter Soiree please contact your teacher. Mrs Kirk (Strings), Mrs Rees (Vocal & Band) and Miss Dunstan (Dance).
Dance Ensembles
Please ensure that all students attend their scheduled dance rehearsals. We’ve had several students missing their sessions recently, and it’s important everyone is present to keep up with new choreography and group coordination.

Rehearsal Schedule:
- Red Dance: Monday at 8:00 AM
- Boys Crew (Grades 3–6): Monday, first break after eating (Open to all)
- Green Dance: Wednesday, second break after eating
- Purple Dance (Grades 1–2): Friday, first break after eating (Open to all)

Mother's Day 2025
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our amazing school community for the incredible support shown during our 2025 Mother’s Day Stall and Mother’s Day Event.
